College Football Power Rankings: Week 11

by: AnthonyP On  Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Alabama CelebratesWeek: | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 |

Total Pro Sports – The Alabama Crimson Tide this week are again our #1 in our College Football Power Rankings, after beating LSU in close one 27-20 in overtime.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders again continue to prove why they are a top team in the Nation as they beat #9 ranked team, Oklahoma State Cowboys. Quarterback, Graham Harrell had another huge game for the Red Raiders, he threw for 456 yards and 6 touchdowns. His All American wide receiver Michael Crabtree was on the receiving end of 3 of those touchdowns and 89 yards. The combination of these 2 All Americans are creating fits for opposing D’s. Look for these two players to get drafted early in the first round next year by a NFL team.

Superman has been spotted on the Florida Gators. What other nickname can we give Tim Tebow as he rushed for 2 touchdowns and threw for 3. NFL teams are licking their lips at a chance to draft this monster, you can play him at any position.

College Football Power Rankings Movers And Shakers

Green ArrowOur biggest movers this week in our College FOOTBALL Power Rankings, were the North Carolina Tar Heels moving up 6 spots to number #17. UNC beat up on Georgia Tech 28-7, lead by their defensive play on the field.

The second biggest mover were the Air Force Falcons moving up 5 spots to #19. The Falcons move to 8-2 on the season after beating up on Colorado State 38-17. Air Force hosts #12 BYU next and then #16 TCU. Both should be tough match ups for the Falcons, and if they can win both would solidify themselves with a nice finish this year in the power rankings.

Red ArrowOur biggest shakers this week in our college Football Power Rankings for week 11 were 2 teams who both lost 6 spots in the rankings.

LSU lost 6 spots to #24 after they lost in over time to the Crimson Tide. The Tigers are slowly falling from the rankings and soon to be dropped out for good.

The second team in the top 6 spots were the Texas Christian Horned Frogs. The Frogs held a lead all game against Utah except for the 4th quarter allowing a touchdown and losing the game 13-10.

Lets take a look at this weeks COLLEGE FOOTBALL POWER RANKINGS.

Rank Team Rec PRV Comment

Alabama Crimson Tide

10-0 - Alabama had its first real scare of the season, but it was not unexpected as they played in one of the toughest stadiums in the country. The Tide are poised now to play in the National Championship game. Up Next: Mississippi State Bulldogs

Texas Tech Red Raiders

10-0 - Big win again this week for the Red Raiders against a tough Oklahoma State Cowboys team. The country is expecting the Red Raiders to lose to one of these Big 12 South teams, however, the Raiders are refusing to conform to everyone’s beliefs. Up Next: Oklahoma Sooners
3 Florida Gators 8-1 Green Arrow1 Tim Tebow is back to playing the way he played last year and that is a good thing for the Gators offense. Questions will arise about Urban Meyer’s decision to limit Tebow early in the season, it’s the one loss that is the only blemish on their season. Up Next: South Carolina Gamecocks
4 Oklahoma Sooners 9-1 Green Arrow1 Who can slow down this offense they are jumping on teams early and refusing to slow down. In their only loss they still posted 35 points, Oklahoma will be playing in a BCS Bowl game regardless of what happens in the Big 12 Championship. Up Next: Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Longhorns

9-1 Green Arrow1 The Longhorns got back on track following a heartbreaking loss last week. Colt McCoy had a much better game this week throwing for 5 touchdowns, we know that McCoy put a lot of blame on his shoulders for the loss last week. Up Next: Kansas Jayhawks

8-1 Green Arrow1 The best defense in the country looked sharp again this week with an impressive performance against in-state rival California. It’s the Trojans offense that worries me as they have not looked as good as years past. Up Next: Stanford Cardinal

Penn State Lions

9-1 Red Arrow4

If you read our week 9 power rankings we warned the Nittany Lions to not fall asleep against the Hawkeyes. The Nittany Lions hopes of a National Championship have now been erased. We almost feel bad for Joe Paterno, we would have liked to see him in another Championship game. Up Next: Indiana Hoosiers

8 Utah Utes 10-0 Green Arrow1 They have completed part one of a two part test to run the table. The Utes have one more tough game that they host at home against the BYU Cougars then they will wait to see which bowl game they will play in. Up Next: San Diego State Aztecs
9 Bosie State Broncos 9-0 Red Arrow1 The Boise State Broncos can only win out and wait to see what the rating system thinks of them. I don’t think they will have enough in the strength of schedule to be playing in a BCS Bowl game. Up Next: Idaho Vandals

Missouri Tigers

8-2 Green Arrow2 Missouri fans may have taken a final look at one of their most outstanding players as NFL ready wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is eligible for the NFL. You can bet he will be surely missed, but the Tigers support will be out in whatever bowl game they play in. Up Next: Iowa State Cyclones

Ohio State Buckeyes

8-2 Green Arrow4 The Buckeyes ran wild against the Wildcats this week routing them 45-10. Terrelle Pryor and Beanie Wells make up the core of that offense and will be leaned on for years to come. Up Next: Illinois Fighting Illini

9-1 Green Arrow1

The Cougars got back in the win column against a one win team this week. The Cougars have two difficult games remaining to end their season, that will determine in which bowl game they will play in. Max Hall has to be sharp these next two games for the Cougars to win on the road. Up Next: Air Force Falcons

13 Michigan State Spartans 9-2 Green Arrow1 What a difference a week makes for the Spartans, last week they looked all but dead to win the Big 10. However, with an unexpected Penn State loss the Spartans control their own destiny. Up Next: Penn State Nittany Lions
14 Georgia Bulldogs 8-2 Green Arrow2 What has gone wrong with the Bulldogs defense, for years it was the only thing they could count on, now however, it’s the offense that’s carrying them to victories. There are way too many good offensive teams in college football, Georgia has to solve their problems. Up Next: Auburn Tigers

Oklahoma State

8-2 Red Arrow4 They are possibly the best 2 loss team in the country. They have a loss at then No. 1 Texas and this week at No.2 Texas Tech. The Cowboys have been a big surprise in the Big 12, no one expected them to remain undefeated as long as they did. Up Next: Colorado buffaloes

9-2 Red Arrow6 They had the lead the entire game only to lose it late in the fourth quarter. The Horned Frogs are still the most balanced team in the Mountain West Conference in my opinion. Up Next: Air Force Falcons
17 North Carolina 7-2 Green Arrow6 Cameron Sexton has done an admirable job replacing T.J Yates as the starting quarterback. The Tar heels appear to have the winning attitude that they were missing all these years. Up Next: Maryland Terrapins

Ball State

9-0 Green Arrow3 Their magical season continues, can Ball State remain undefeated all season? The questions will be answered in their final two games when they play Central and Western Michigan. Up Next: Miami (Ohio) Redhawks
19 Air Force 8-2 Green Arrow5 The Falcons have a bulimic passing attack, however, it’s their rushing attack that has carried them all season. They rank third in the nation at 285 rushing yards per game. Next Up: BYU Cougars

7-2 NR If the Bearcats pulled off the upset against West Virginia earlier in the season it would not have been that impressive, since they did it after the Mountaineers reeled off 5 straight victories it very much is. Up Next: Cincinnati Bearcats

Florida State

7-2 NR They gave their coach a nice birthday present this week as they defeated his son and the Clemson Tigers 41-27. Up Next: Boston College Eagles
22 Pittsburgh Panthers 7-2 NR If the Panthers did not let two games get away (Bowling Green and Rutgers) they would be starring a perfect season in the face. They have earned a bowl bid and are tied for first place in the Big East. Up Next: Cincinnati Bearcats
23 Western Michigan Broncos 8-2 NR They may have not reached the Top 25 if not for their win this week against the Fighting Illini.Tim Hiller is having a great season with a 7:1 touchdown to interception ratio. Up Next: Toledo Rockets
24 LSU Tigers 6-3 Red Arrow6 The Tigers put up a great fight against the nations top team but fell just short. Jarrett Lee made way too many mistakes for them to come close. Up Next: Troy Trojans

8-1 - Bye Week. Up Next: Houston Cougars

Honorable Mention: Central Michigan, Maryland, Miami Florida, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Northwestern, Minnesota, South Carolina, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona,
