Total Pro Sports – Just when I thought things were going to settle down there was a tonne of movement in this week’s NHL Power Rankings as the San Jose Sharks and the Florida Panthers are the only two teams to remain in the same spots as last week…which isn’t a good thing for Florida.

NHL Power Rankings Movers And Shakers

Red ArrowThe biggest Shakers in our NHL Power Rankings this week were the Buffalo Sabres moving down 8 spots landing at #18.

The second biggest shaker was the Atlanta Thrashers who sit at #28 after falling 6 spots.

Green ArrowThe biggest Movers in our NHL Power Rankings this week were the New Jersey Devils moving up 6 spots to #13 and the St.Louis Blues also moving up 6 spots landing them at #22.

Lets take a look at the rest of the league: NHL POWER RANKINGS for Week 7.

Rank Team Record PRV Comment
San Jose Sharks 17-3-1 - This team is just solid across the board. It doesn’t seem to matter who’s in net they just keep winning.
Detroit Red Wings 14-2-3 Green Arrow1 Had solid week outscoring the Oilers and Flames 13-5 and shutting out the Oilers at home. Ken Holland has done it again as Conklin appears to be challenging Osgood for the #1 position in net.
Boston Bruins 14-3-4 Green Arrow1 Well, no one expected this. Had a huge week winning all four of their games, three of which were against divisional opponents. Thomas for Vezina?
New York Rangers 14-7-2 Red Arrow2 Disappointing week going 1-2 losing to the Canucks and Senators. Lundqvist pulled himself in their game against Vancouver but that didn’t seem to help as they lost their next game to Ottawa.
Vancouver Canucks 13-6-2 Green Arrow4 Had a solid week going 3-0-1. Their win over Pittsburgh came at a steep price however as Luongo left the game with an injury. Hopefully it isn’t too serious.
Pittsburgh Penguins 12-5-3 Red Arrow1 Not quite the week they would have liked going 1-1-1. Crosby and Malkin are still leading the way with an already staggering 56 combined points in 20 games.
Montreal Canadiens 11-5-3 Red Arrow1 Just like the Penguins the Habs went 1-1-1. They were unable to feed off the energy from Roy’s number being reitred as they lost in the shootout to Boston on Saturday.
Chicago Blackhawks 10-4-5 Green Arrow5 Won all three of their games including a great come from behind victory over the Leafs. Kane is still plugging along nicely with 25 points in 19 games.
Washington Capitals 11-6-3 Red Arrow2 Beat the Ducks but got whooped by the Kings and Sharks. On the plus side the trio of Ovechkin, Semin and Backstrom are providing some consistantly scoring.
Anaheim Ducks 11-8-3 Green Arrow1 Were able to rebound after a poor start but have had back-to-back “meh” weeks. Getzlaf is still going strong with 26 points in 21 games.
Carolina Hurricanes 11-8-2 Green Arrow1 Pretty good week going 2-1 beating the Canadiens and Coyotes. As has been the case all year, they need to get more scoring from guys like Staal, Ruutu, Cullen, Samsonov and Eaves.
Minnesota Wild 11-6-1 Red Arrow4 Got off to a good start beating the Penguins but lost to both the Canucks and Blues. Mikko Koivu is still surprisingly averaging a point per game.
New Jersey Devils 11-7-2 Green Arrow6 Big week winning all three of their games. Brodeur getting injured may have been the best thing for the Devils as it’s forced them to play better as a team, which they have been.
Calgary Flames 11-9-1 Green Arrow2 Nice week beating the Avs in a home-and-home series but lost to the Wings on Saturday night. Iginla continues to lead the offence with 24 points.
Philadelphia Flyers 9-6-4 Green Arrow5 Only played two games but won both. Gagne still leads the team in points with 27.
Columbus Blue Jackets 9-8-3 Red Arrow1 So-so week winning one and losing one. Their win did come via shutout though. Nash and Brassard are tied for the team lead in points with 19.
Nashville Predators 10-9-1 Red Arrow3 Disappointing week going 1-2. On the plus side Shea Weber has been the best defenceman in the league putting up 21 points and a plus-10.
Buffalo Sabres 9-8-3 Red Arrow8 And the decline continues for Buffalo as they lost all three of their games including being shutout against the Flyers. On the plus side Vanek is tied for the league lead in goals with 15.
Edmonton Oilers 9-9-2 Red Arrow2 Up and down week getting shutout against the Red Wings, beating the Blue Jackets by 5 goals then losing a close one to the Red Wings. Hemsky leads the team with 21 points.
Toronto Maple Leafs 7-8-5 Red Arrow2 Bad week for the blue and white losing both games to the Bruins and Blackhawks. Matt Stajan continues to the lead the team with 19 points.
Los Angeles Kings 8-8-3 Green Arrow2 Not a bad week for the Kings beating the Capitals and then losing a close one in the shootout to the Avs. Sadly Kopitar leads the team with only 15 points.
St. Louis Blues 8-8-2 Green Arrow6 Won both of their games against the Ducks and Wild. The injured Andy McDonald still leads the team with 18 points…not a good sign.
Colorado Avalanche 9-10-0 Green Arrow1 Not the best of weeks going 1-2 and only scoring 5 goals. Even though he’s been on a cold streak Paul Stastny still leads the team with 17 points.
Phoenix Coyotes 8-9-2 Red Arrow3 Another disappointing week losing all three of their games.
New York Islanders 8-10-2 Green Arrow4 Had a decent week beating the Canucks and Sabres. Doug Weight continues to lead the team with 19 points.
Ottawa Senators 7-9-4 Green Arrow1 Bit of a tough week losing their first two games in the shootout but beat the Rangers in regulation. Both Alfredsson and Heatley are averaging a point per game.
Tampa Bay Lightning 6-8-6 Red Arrow1 The Lightning haven’t really responded to the new coaching change so far going 1-1-1 last week. They’ll need Lecavalier to get going as he only has 16 points so far.
Atlanta Thrashers 7-10-2 Red Arrow6 Lost both of their games including getting shutout against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Kozlov, Little and Kovalchuk are all tied for the team lead with 17 points.
Dallas Stars 6-9-4 Red Arrow4 Yet another disappointing week for the Stars losing both of their games to the Blackhawks and Ducks. Ribeiro leads the team with 18 points.
Florida Panthers 7-11-1 - Promising start beating the Lightning in the shootout but lost their next two to the Devils and Bruins. Nathan Horton continues to lead the team with only 13 points.
