New Orleans Bowl Game Preview
If the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles could erase the middle part of their schedule they may have competed for a Conference USA title. The stretch which saw the Golden Eagles lose 5 straight meant that the team had to rally with 4 straight wins to earn their spot in the New Orleans Bowl Game, including beating the conference champion East Carolina. Austin Davis has had a good year for the Eagles, he was responsible for 30 touchdowns (21 passing, 9 rushing) and set a school freshman record for passing touchdowns in a season.
The Troy Trojans, the class of the Sun Belt Conference come into the New Orleans Bowl Game playing their backup quarterback. Levi Brown replaced starter Jamie Hampton in week 5, but the Trojans have not shown any ill effects, averaging 33 PPG, the Trojans have shown good balance on offense. The offense is led by a big, physical and experienced offensive line that should be able to control the line of scrimmage against the Golden Eagles.

Both teams are playing some good football and the short rest is perfect for both schools to continue their momentum. We see the New Orleans Bowl Game going back and forth, possibly decided late in the final quarter. The Golden Eagles have shown they can compete against stiff competition beating East Carolina late in the season. We will play the points and go with the Golden Eagles in this one.
