NFL Power Rankings: Week 16

Total Pro Sports – The New York Giants finally win a tough game against a solid Carolina Panthers team.  The Giants remain #1 in our NFL Power Rankings for week 16, and look to finish off their for the rest of the season.

This past Sunday Nights game between the Panthers and the Giants we predicted during the game that the winner of the Super Bowl will come out of this game!  Any takers on this prediction, we truly think the Panthers have a solid chance to win it all.

An emmotional win for the Bears this past week, after blocking a field goal that would have elimated the them from a possible playoff spot.  The Bears came back and beat the Packers in overtime keeping their playoff hopes alive and well.

The Bears win makes the Minnesota Vikings chances that little bit harder to make the playoffs.  They now have to beat the New York Giants to make the playoffs.  So what you think now Bobby Wade?

NFL Power Rankings Movers And Shakers

Red ArrowThe biggest shaker this week were the Houston Texans, losing 3 spots in the Power Rankings moving down from #18 to #21 after losing to the Oakland Raiders.

Green ArrowThe biggest mover this week were the Chicago Bears moving up 3 spots from #15 to #12 and the Baltimore Ravens moving up 3 spots from #11 to #8 in this weeks NFL Power Rankings.

3 Pittsburgh Steelers 11-4 Red Arrow1 In a game that decided home field advantage throughout the playoffs the Steelers came up short. In a battle of the top defenses in the league the Titans proved to be stingier.  Up Next: Cleveland Browns
4 Carolina Panthers 11-4 Red Arrow1 What a crushing loss for the Panthers. They were a field goal away from holding a share of the lead in the conference, now they will be playing for a first round bye, with the danger of dropping to the No. 5 seed. Up Next: New Orleans Saints 
5 Indianapolis Colts 11-4 - Would you look at who has resurrected their team! The Colts are on an absolute roll, winners of 8 in a row they are a scary first round opponent. It is not how you start the season it is how you finish, look out AFC.  Up Next: Tennessee Titans
6 New England Patriots 10-5 Green Arrow1 The Patriots absolutely manhandled the Cardinals this weekend. Matt Cassel looked great again but the Patriots will need help in order to slip into the playoffs.  Up Next: Buffalo Bills
7 Atlanta Falcons 10-5 Green Arrow1 What can you say about this football team that has not already been said. To come into a season full of controversy, a rookie quarterback, unproven running back and make the playoffs, kudos to the Falcons.  Up Next: St. Louis Rams
8 Baltimore Ravens 10-5 Green Arrow3 The Ravens emphasis has always been on their defense, this year is no different. They do however, have a quarterback that is not afraid to make some plays and therefore, the offense looks a lot more comfortable. Up Next: Jacksonville Jaguars
9 Miami Dolphins 10-5 Green Arrow1 If someone told me that this team was going to be in first place in the division with one week left, I would have told them their crazy. Tony Sparano is a top 2 candidate for The Coach of the Year.  Up Next: New York Jets
10 Dallas Cowboys 9-6 - The Dallas Cowboys are in big trouble, they are in danger of missing the playoffs and we know that is not sitting well with Jerry Jones. If they cannot clinch a spot heads may fly this off season.  Up Next: Philadelphia Eagles
11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9-6 Red Arrow2 The Buccaneers have hit a downfall at the wrong time, they have lost three straight games and their defense has gone south. They do, however, hold their destiny in their hands, a win next week and their in.  Up Next: Oakland Raiders
12 Chicago Bears 9-6 Green Arrow3 What an emotional win for the Chicago Bears, the offense was non-existent for the first three quarters. Matt Forte really woke up late in the game and the special teams came up with key blocked field goal to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Up Next: Houston Texans
13 Minnesota Vikings 9-6 Green Arrow1 Lost fumbles was the demise of the Vikings this week. Their inability to hold onto the pigskin cost them an important touchdown and ended several drives.  Up Next: New York Giants
14 Philadelphia Eagles 8-6-1 Red Arrow2 It has been an up and down year for McNabb, but this weeks loss to the struggling Redskins may have cost the Eagles a postseason berth. It’s hard to say if McNabb will be wearing green and white next year.  Up Next: Dallas Cowboys
15 Arizona Cardinals 8-7 Red Arrow2 One step forward, two steps back for the Cardinals, just when we think they have everything on track, the wheels come spinning off. The Cardinals may be entering the postseason with little confidence, not good for a team that does not go to the playoffs consistently.  Up Next: Seattle Seahawks
16 Denver Broncos 8-7 - It seems that no team from the AFC West deserves to be playing in the post season. The Broncos have given the Chargers new life by losing their last two games, setting up a match up with their division rival next week.  Up Next: San Diego Chargers 
17 New York Jets 9-6 - What has happened to the New York Jets? At one point they were in control of the division but after losing 3 of its last 4 games they are on the outside looking in. Up Next: Miami Dolphins 
18 New Orleans Saints 7-8 Green Arrow1 Drew Brees has been great all season for the Saints, but he cannot carry a team on his own. The Saints had too many injuries to key players and were unable to really get on track.  Up Next: Carolina Panthers 
19 San Diego Chargers 8-7 Green Arrow2 Three weeks ago it looked like the Chargers were dead, but after three straight victories, coupled with 2 Denver loses the Chargers have a chance to get into the playoffs. If they can win next week they get in.  Up Next: Denver Broncos 
20 Washington Redskins 8-7 - There was so much promise from this Redskins team early in the season. After a 4-1 start many people had the Skins being the sleeper of the NFC.  Up Next: San Francisco 49ers 
21 Houston Texans 7-8 Red Arrow3 The Texans are a tough team to figure out, they beat the Titans and then lose to the lowly Raiders, go figure.  Up Next: Chicago Bears
22 Buffalo Bills 5-10 Green Arrow2 The Bills seem to be a solid team when they have Trent Edwards, it finally seemed like the Bills were going to reach the playoffs this year, but the injury to Edwards really hurt them. They should be in the hunt next year.  Up Next: New England Patriots
23 San Francisco 49ers 6-9 - Is Shaun Hill the future in San Francisco? I guess we will have to wait until next season to find out that answer.  Up Next: Washington Redskins 
24 Green Bay Packers 7-8 Red Arrow2 Aaron Rodgers has had a very good season in his first year. It is almost hard to believe the Packers are only 5-10, they should be better next year as they must look to shore up that defense. Up Next: Detroit Lions
25 Seattle Seahawks 4-11 Green Arrow2 The Seahawks may be in rebuilding mode once this season is complete. Mike Holmgrem will not be coaching this team next season after so many great years with the team.  Up Next: Arizona Cardinals
26 Cleveland Browns 4-11 Red Arrow1 The Browns have hit a new low, they got shutout this week at home against the Bengals. There is no excuse for effort and the Browns have obviously quit on the season.  Up Next: Pittsburgh Steelers
27 Jacksonville Jaguars 4-11 Red Arrow1 To say that the Jaguars 4-11 season is disappointing is a massive understatement. This team had visions of making a Super Bowl run this year, after last season magical playoff push.  Up Next: Baltimore Ravens
28 Oakland Raiders 4-11 Green Arrow1 We strongly believe this team will never get back on track until Al Davis resigns. The attitude in that locker room must change for this team to start winning again.  Up Next: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
29 Kansas City Chiefs 2-13 Red Arrow1 At least the Chiefs will have a quarterback next season, Tyler Thigpen has been the lone bright spot for this football team.  Up Next: Cincinnati Bengals
30 Cincinnati Bengals 3-11-1 Green Arrow1 The Bengals have stayed competitive lately but this team was in big trouble when they lost Carson Palmer for the season.  Up Next: Kansas City Chiefs
31 St Louis Rams 2-13 Red Arrow1 Not much good has come from the Rams this season, they will be looking to draft well and start building towards the future.  Up Next: Atlanta Falcons
32 Detroit Lions 0-15 - The Detroit Lions, the laughing stock of the NFL, they are looking to put themselves in the record books when they travel to Green Bay next week.  Up Next: Green Bay Packers
