Florida Gators Lose Harvin, Spikes To Return

Percy HarvinTotal Pro Sports – The defending National Champions will be without arguably their most talented player on offense, Percy Harvin has decided to turn pro. In a season where he did it all for the Florida Gators, Harvin made the decision just hours prior to the Thursday deadline. His presence on the field will be greatly missed, the 5-11, 195 pound speedster out ran defenses his entire career and will now try to do it in the NFL.

The question will be can he stay healthy in the big league? Harvin makes up for his size with his speed, agility, and elusiveness, but he is going to find out that the game is alot faster in the NFL. Harvin has been bothered by nagging injuries throughout his college career, from hamstring troubles to ankle injuries. His dynamic ability, however,  will probably cover up the flaws that he has in his game, teams will be willing to take a shot at a player that can score from anywhere on the field. Harvin lined up at various positions on offense including quarterback, wide receiver and running back, he also has the ability to return kick-offs and punts.

The heart of the Gators defense Brandon Spikes is heading back to Gainesville, a decision that was prompted by Tim Tebow’s decision to return for another season. The junior linebacker led the Gators with 93 tackles last season to go along with 8 sacks and 4 interceptions. At 6-3, 245 pounds Spikes is a big specimen and would have been a late 1st round or early second round draft pick.

Brandon Spikes could have welcomed the paychecks he would have received from the NFL as he also has to deal with family issues. The decision for Spikes to return was not an easy one for him and his family but this decision will definitely aid him in the long run.
