Hokies Defeat WakeTotal Pro Sports – And then there was none, the last of the unbeatens is no longer.  The Virgina Tech Hokies traveled to Winston-Salem and upset the undisputed No. 1 team in the country the Wake Forest Demon Deacons tonight.

The Hokies entered a hostile environment and knocked off a top ranked team for the second time in three years, it was an impressive 78-71 victory. The Hokies were led by Malcolm Delaney who poured in 21 points, on 6-13 shooting and 8-12 from the free throw line.

“We spread them out. We had a lot of movement. Coach told us that if we moved them, we’d get the shots that we want,” Delaney said.

Would you believe that the unranked Virgina Tech Hokies held the lead from the opening tip all the way till the final buzzer.  The lone bright side for the Demon Deacons was Jeff Teague who scored 23 points added 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

“You never want to lose, but I’m kind of glad we got it out the way,” Teague said. “Everybody was trying to play perfect, and everybody didn’t want to mess up and things like that, because they wanted to stay No. 1. But now we’ve got that out the way, we’re just going to get back to doing what we were doing.”

Now that their is no undefeated team in the top 5 of the AP Poll, it will be interesting to see who take over the #1 spot in the nation.
