Ahhhhh, life as a Mets fan.... Try being a Mets and Jets fan. Any takers?? I might be the only fool to be a die hard fan of both teams. Anyway, I digress. One of the most frustrating things that I hear from people is the that the Mets don't have the money to sign any more big free agents. Isn't that a load of crap? Arrent "our" Mets the second biggest market team in the MLB? If not second then I am sure close enough. The Mets have money. They never spend enough though. It seems most times they will spend their money on a player who has already peaked and is now coming into the twilight of their carreer. I agree whole-heartedly with AndersF. The Mets should make a run for Ben Sheets. He can not be worse than signing Pedro Martinez again. Better yet, why don't we just go out and re-sign Orlando Hernandez again so he can sit on the disabled list b/c he has a bunyon. The Mets have built a new stadium. I am sure it will be fantastic. But you know what?? Why should I spend my hard earned money going to see them if they aren't going to give us anything in return except heartache year after year....

I understand Chico's sentiment , but I totally agree with Roy. Santana with any type of respectable bullpen wins 20+ games last year. You can't ask for anything more. Delgado has been up and down in his tenure with the Mets but I wouldn't consider him a bust though. I have to stick t my guns here and still say in spite of all the baggage, GO GET MANNY ! If a player like Manny wasn't such an enigma, if he was a nose to the grindstone hard working player, and not the player that quit in Boston last year , he would never be available to begin with . Jerry Manuel seems to have the managing chops to keep a player like Manny happy and motivated. In the end I think Manny becomes a Met.

I wouldn't say Santana's a shadow on the Mets. His record would have been far better if he got the run support.

Welcome aboard AndersF I feel your pain as a few years back I had the Mets reaching the World Series but it seems for every step forward they take two back. Why is it that whenever a superstar joins a superstar team, the expectations are never met? Johan Santana, Carlos Delgado, and Billy Wagner, superstars on their previous teams but with the Mets they seem to be shadows. The Mets have a deep roster and I agree Manny is probably the best hitter of our generation and he has yet to be offered a deal.
