Total Pro Sports – The Lakers stay at the top this weeks NBA Power Rankings, but the Boston Celtics will definitely jump to the #1 spot next week if they keep their winning ways going.

The New York Knicks made the biggest jump this week, and it’s not because they’re my personal favorites. They are playing well. The Milwaukee Bucks have lost Michael Redd for the year making the Knicks a legitimate shot at making the playoffs.

The Eastern Conference is not as weak as usual around this time, so look out West, you may have a challenge taking home the Larry O’Brien this year.

NBA Power Rankings Movers And Shakers

Our biggest mover this week in our NBA Power Rankings, were the New York Knicks moving up 7 spots in the power rankings. The Knicks moved from #25 to #18.

Our biggest shakers this week in our NBA Power Rankings for week 13 were the Detroit Pistons losing 4 spots in the NBA Power Rankings. The Pistons dropped from #5 to #9 this week.

The Atlanta Hawks dropped from 5 spots from #5 to #10 in this weeks power rankings

1	35-8	-	Winning their last 4 and 5 out of their last 8 keeps them atop the rankings. They are playing well and continue to play as a team.
2	37-9	2	They haven’t lost since the Cleveland game on January 9^th, and look like they’ll keep on rolling with this win streak that is at 8 right now.
3	34-8	1	The Cavs are only dropping because of the way Boston is playing right now, but look for them to continue their 3 game win streak tomorrow against Sacramento.
4	33-10	1	This team still surprises me, and the way they play together is great. I love Orlando, and hope they can stay up here along with Boston and Cleveland.
5	29-14	1	7-3 in their last 10, Tim Duncan is leading this team of mostly veterans on a hunt to catch the Lakers (even though they lost on Sunday night to them by 14).
6	29-15	2	4-2 in their last 6, I really like this Nuggets team. Billups is a great fit, and hopefully can get them past the Spurs in the West by the All-Star Break.
7	28-17	4	The Rockets take a jump this time because of their great playing last night against Detroit. Even without Yao, T-Mac and the rest of the Rockets have great chemistry and are still performing.
8	26-14	1	I love New Orleans, but key losses recently to New York, Cleveland, and Minnesota have hurt them. A turnaround against the 76ers tonight is absolutely necessary otherwise they are in trouble.
9	24-19	4	A dismal 2-6 in their last 8 shocks me, as this team has a good set of players. Thank god they are in the East, otherwise they would be near the bubble going into the ASB.
10	24-18	1	3 losses in 4 games last week didn’t help their resume, and Nash and Amare need to show the NBA who they really are.
11	26-17	1	Yes they are ranked lower than the Pistons, but for some reason I still don’t feel this Atlanta team is fully proven. They have an easy week ahead with the Knicks, Nets, and Bucks on tap, so hopefully they can get some wins and gain some momentum heading into the ASB.
12	26-17	1	Again, they shouldn’t be behind the Suns, but the Suns are a more proven team in my opinion. The Blazers are playing well, and can definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the second half.
13	25-19	1	They have only one team right now fighting with them for the last spot in the West, so if they keep playing well, they should be able to stay in it.
14	23-19	3	I love this Miami team, and see them fighting with the top 3 in the East down the road. Winning 4 out of the last 6 definitely helps, and the next 2 games against Atlanta and Washington could keep their winning ways alive.
15	25-20	3	The Jazz are probably missing Boozer right now, but are still playing okay. I’m sure they would be much better if they had him, but they are doing good enough to stay in the playoff hunt going into the ASB.
16	21-21	1	They have only lost 1 game since January 3^rd, and Iguodala is doing his best to lead a team that isn’t full of talent to the playoffs. Look to see the 76ers keep playing on the rise, and have a record at the break around the Heat’s record.
17	22-25	1	This is the first sub-.500 team in the rankings, and surprisingly the best sub-.500 team is from the East. The West teams under .500 are far under, and the Bucks just lost Michael Redd. Look for a huge drop off from the Bucks, as losing your leader and star player (or a star fantasy player in my case) can really hurt a team.
18	18-25	7	The Knicks make a resounding jump, after having a good second half of January. 5-3 in their last 8 is huge, and they have not lost at home since January 2^nd. As a Knick fan, I hope to see this great play continue, but they are so inconsistent, no one knows what to expect.
19	15-27	3	I don’t know what Kevin McHale has done to this team, but they are 11-4 in their last 15. This team has something big in store, and hopefully can keep this Cinderella story going. They dropped this week with 2 key losses, but I like what I see right now.
20	20-24	1	Most would feel they belong ahead of the Knicks because of the way their rookies have been playing this year, but 3-5 in their last 8 does not help. Brook Lopez has been stepping it up, and Devin Harris is playing great, and can definitely lead the Nets to a playoff berth in the East this year.
21	18-26	-	4-2 in their last 6, the Bobcats still need some help. They have been trying to get rid of a few guys according to some rumors, but have failed. MJ needs to pull the trigger and make a big trade so Charlotte can make a run.
22	18-27	-	You would figure a win against Cleveland would give them momentum, but it did not. 2-6 in their last 8 (including that win against the Cavs) is dismal, and the Bulls need a miracle.
23	18-28	3	This Raptors team is a good team, and I had high hopes for them this season. Unfortunately that is not how the season has gone, but now Calderon is back and ready to make a huge impact.
24	17-27	1	Nothing great from them this week, but with 2 out of 4 games this week against sub-.500 teams, maybe the Pacers can work their way back to .500.
25	14-31	1	3-3 since the last power rankings drops them a spot this week. Monta Ellis has finally returned, and I think that might be the spark they need to jump a few spots in the West.
26	11-32	-	Hopefully the new coach (Hollins) brings something to this team, because if he doesn’t, then I don’t know what will.
27	10-33	3	The Clips have not changed their losing ways, going 2-4 in the last 6. They have some good players, so seeing them do this poorly is a shock to me.
28	9-35	1	3-3 in the last 6 including a big win against Detroit, Oklahoma is winning a few games here and there to keep them out of the bottom of the rankings.
29	10-35	1	This team has no spark, and is probably not going to change much after the trade deadline. I’m sure they’ll settle with having a good draft pick next year.
30	9-34	1	Don’t play Arenas, rest him. The Wizards are miserable this year, and there is nothing they can do to bring them up. Take the good draft pick, bring Agent Zero back next year, and pray for the best.
