I understand your sentiments. I assume that a lot of guys that did them , or are doing them are looking to level the playing field as you said. They are just doing it the other way..instead of everyone being clean , it seems that everyone is taking some type of P.E.D. This is why I've said I am done with it. I just want to enjoy the game I love. In terms of the penalties, I have heard many fans mention the lifetime ban as a penalty. The problem is this, first you need to be careful with that , because sometimes you do get a guy that takes an over the coubter supplement that could trigger a positive test. More importantly, the player's association is never going to let that happen, and seeing as the penalties attached to drug testing all need to be collectively bargained. I don't see it happening.

I think this whole baseball era is tainted. It is a real shame. It has gotten to a point where you look at ALL of the players and just have doubts if they are using some type of performance enhancing substance. I've heard a lot over the past couple of weeks players and fans both saying how they are used b/c it is so competitive. Doesn't anyone realize that if if there was testing for everyone and if the penalties were harsher, like a life time ban for a first offense, then the players might stop using them. If nobody used them then everyone would be on the same "level" so to speak. The game would still be exciting and the fans, especially children, would actually have someone to idolize again.
