Don Cherry has provided significant entertainment and insight over the years. His only problem is he's ignoring a little inevitable phenomenon called evolution. Everything changes, constantly. He is stuck in the 1960's. Though some of his tactics, strategies, and morals have merit still, he has become a dinosaur.

AV, AV, AV….I for one am tired of hearing it. Malkin reaches 100 points first and NHL.com barely mentions it. AV does it and the golden boy is top news. Of course AVleads the leagues in goals, he has also taken over 135 (2 per game more) shots shots more than the 2nd place Staal. Is a football running back great if he gets 1000 yards with a 3.0 per carry average….NO he is average. When will the referees start calling AV for all the pussy hits he gives while leaving his feet….wait he is the NHL STAR, we don't call penalties on him. When is he going to stop cherry picking and actually play some defense. Face offs, nada….short handed..nada. He is only a part time player. There are quite a few more complete players that can also score. Yes, Sid, Malkin, Richards, etc. AV is bringing the staged celebration that previously existed only in the NBA and NFL…No thanks, leave the ghetto celebration trash out of the game.

Jason…..are u on crack….please dont compare wayne gretzky to a european style player. I love allot of Europeans (mainly pavel bure), but just because gretzky was small and had great finess it doesnt mean he played a european style. You can very easily compare gretzky to Canadian legends such as howie morenz, milt schmidt, guy lafleur, and believe it or not bobby clarke considering thats where he picked up the idea of parking behind the net….my point is just because a player is small, skilled and really good it doesnt mean hes european….

and im pretty sure Cherry's favorite player was bobby orr

LD, the fundamental aspect of ANY sport on earth is HAVING FUN WHILE PLAYING IT. Ovechkin's antics, while flashy, look genuine and straight from the heart. It's ironic how the former USSR squad was mocked by North Americans for being so mechanical and dour, and here we have an exuberant player with oodles of talent making his fans happy to see him play and surprise!…a bitter, xenophobic clown and his cronies have issues with it.

One more thing about humility- Don Cherry is the last person to espouse it. Perhaps his brain-dead fanboys don't even realize that a gas-bag who mouths off like he knows everything about the sport, dresses like Liberace on acid, and keeps tooting "I coached Bobby Orr. Me!!!" is hardly the person to epitomize or preach humility the "Canadian way."

Go recede into the Cold War era, Don and take your fan-boys with you.

I love contraversy can we get everyone in the same room and discuss these issues its so funny to hear the reactions of the true fans of the game. I;m now sure of Mr. Goofy's true intention on coaches corner yesterday but it seemed a little hostle to me. All i know is that OV may be celebrating yet another 600 times before hisi career is done so get used to it Don.

Don Cherry's way: players should be emotionless like robots, fans silent and sober like they are at the funeral, hockey moves back to Canada and slowly dies out there. The positive aspect? Nobody looks or acts goofy. Yeah, and don't forget to ban a soccer game, because it's a goofy sport, goofy players, goofy coaches, and about 1.5 billions of goofy fans all over the world.

Mr. Cherry, you are the racist, you hate European players, especially Russian ones. When you don't have arguments against player's performance, you go after his emotional side. It does not make you my hero.

PS. The way you dress is the goofiest thing I've ever seen in my life.
