The Stick..The Stick…THE STICK IS ON FIRE, Ovechkin Pops His 50th

Total Pro Sports – Alex Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season last night in a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, becoming the Capitals first ever 3-time 50 goal scorer. OV is absolutely amazing he has scored 50 plus goals in 3 of his last 4 season.

Ovechkin picked the puck in the neutral zone, turned the OV jets on, passing one Lightning player and than snipping a wrist shot that would make Jeff Carter Jealous. Not much was talked about concerning the goal that reached the milestone, but the Celebration Ovechkin used to celebrate the goal made the most headlines. We really don’t understand what Alex Ovechkin is doing, but it looks like a little combination of praising his stick and telling the world his stick is on fire.

Watch for yourself and make your own conclusions, but Rick Tocchet and Bruce Boudreau were not pleased with it,

“We had a little talk,” he said. “I won’t say what we talked about, but we talked.”

After a pause, Boudreau added: “It’s the first and only time I’ve seen that happen in all the time I’ve been watching Alex. I’ve never seen him do a celebration like that. But I don’t expect it to happen again.”  [Capitals Insider]

I wonder what Don Cherry will have to say about OV’s celebration on Hockey Night in Canada tomorrow night?
