Wayne Gretzky Breaks The Goals Record 15 Years Ago Today

3

Total Pro Sports - It seemed as if it were yesterday I was sitting in front of my television waiting for my idol and hero Wayne Gretzky to score and break Gordie Howe's NHL goal record.

On this day March 23rd, 1994 exactly 15 years ago, something truly unimaginable was accomplished in Los Angeles, California.  Wayne Gretzky scored his 802nd goal of the season beating Gordie Howe's 30 year old record.

This day will forever go down in history as one of the greatest days in sports.  Watching Wayne Gretzky break the record still brings a tear to my eye.

Wayne Gretzky was to hockey what Michael Jordan was to basketball.

Wayne Gretzky is truly special and their will never come a player to his calber ever again.  Yes, the NHL today has some amazing young talent in Alex Ovechkin and Sindey Crosby, but their will only be one "Great One" and one Wayne Gretzky.

There is a class act. The greatest player to ever play the game just scored more goals than anyone, and you didn’t see him pull some orchastrated cheesy celebration. Gretzky’s celebration was authentic and geneuine, that is what the game needs. Leave the endzone celebrations to football.

      Congratulations again Great One!!!!

      Sincerely
      LD

Ovechkin might give that record a run, it will be very tough though!!!
