The Stat Line Of The Night – 04/06/09 – Ty Lawson

1

ty-lawsonTotal Pro Sports - The 2009 March Madness Final hosted the North Carolina Tar Heels and the home town Michigan State Spartans.  The Tar Heels lead for the majority of the game and pretty much had the game wrapped going into  half time with a 21 point lead.  The minus 7.5 Tar Heels did not dissapoint and won the National Championship by 17 points, 89-72.

But the story of the game was North Carolina guard Ty Lawson, who scored 21 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, a record 7 steals for a March Madness Championship game and never won the game MVP.  The award was given to fellow guard Wayne Ellington who scored 19 points and added 4 rebounds.  But Ty Lawson was the real star of the game and ultimatley "The Stat Line Of The Night" for Monday April 6th, 2009.

"When you play North Carolina, there's nothing you can do," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. "Lawson says it all. He does stir the drink."

How he didn’t get the Outstanding Player award, I’ll never know. He was pissed, too.
