Ducks James Wisniewski Takes Puck To The Chest Then Spits Blood

wisniewski-injuredTotal Pro Sports – In a scary episode last night, Anaheim Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski took a Pavel Datsyuk shot to the chest that left him injured on the ice and spitting blood.  He would eventually be carted off on a stretcher and taken to the hospital where it was confirmed that he had suffered a lung contusion.

During the 6:30 mark of the second period, Wisniewski took the Datsyuk shot to the chest and was noticeably laboring, but attempted to remain in the play and help his team out in the defensive zone.  He then took an elbow to the face from Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom before the whistle finally blew and he dropped to his hands and knees.  Trainers came out to check up on him, but when they noticed the blood and the extent of the injury, the stretcher was called for and Wisniewski was taken off and rushed to the hospital.

We are all glad to see that the injury was not too serious.  It is still unknown when he will return to the lineup, but Ducks players and fans have to be proud of the courage showed by this guy after he refused to go down during the play.
