jack-wilson1Total Pro Sports – In a game that few were likely interested in, one man still managed a performance worthy of recognition.  In a battle between what have been two perennial bottom-feeders (and that is unlikely to change this year), Jack Wilson had a strong night at the plate to give his Pittsburgh Pirates the victory.

The Pirates shortstop was just a home run away from the cycle as he hit a triple, two doubles and a single, going 4-4 with 3 runs and 2 RBIs.  While it may not have been a record breaking performance or front page material, on a slow night for the superstars it was Jack’s time to shine.  Thus, making him The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday May 18th, 2009.

The Pirates find themselves at the bottom of the NL Central and that doesn’t appear likely to change anytime soon.  With teams like Chicago, Milwaukee and St Louis to contest with, the road back to the playoffs for the Pittsburgh Pirates looks to be a long and endless.
