Mario Lemieux Sure Can Throw A Stanley Cup Party
Having won two of his own during his playing years with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Mario Lemieux is no stranger to Stanley Cup victory parties. Unfortunately some of the current Pens may be, so Mario decided to show them what its all about.
At his unbelievable mansion in Siwickley, Pa, Lemieux threw a party for the team and judging by the pics it looks as though it was one hell of a time. How many people can say they have swam with the Stanley Cup? The players as well as family and friends showed up at the bosses place to celebrate the victory and among the pictures which have surfaced are some with players and family in the pool with the Cup, a great view of the mansion and Mario's wine cellar.
After winning the NHL's coveted trophy on Friday, the Pens have since hoisted it on the bus from Detroit to Pittsburgh, show it off (among other things) at their hometown parade, and now this. We also hear that due to Crosby's request, there was no reception line.
Here are the pics from the party. [Deadspin]

Have fun with the cup while you can! Detroit will be back again next year!
Wow, that is one major party! Must have been a blast!
I have these same pics from a friend of a friend. it goes a bit deeper than what is shown. A true family party, which shows the comradeship of the team, but the highlights the families involved with the Penguins.
Watch all the games since Mario was a Penquin and won the cup and celebrated. It great that we could watch all the games again and celebrate with his team again. YOU GUYS PLAYED HARD HOCKEY AND BROUGHT THE CUP BACK TO PITTSBURGH! WAY TO GO!!! Lets keep it in the BURGH!
Haha that’s awesome! I thought for sure that the Stanley Cup would’ve sunk right to the bottom. I can’t imagine Bobby Hull, the greatest left winger in the NHL, taking the Stanley Cup for a swim in ‘61. I picture Hull as more of a ring toss guy. Appparently Hull’s got a bunch of talents up his sleeve. I heard somewhere that he’ll be playing poker with some of his fans in the Bahamas this fall.
UncleHockey is a retard.
JUST LIKE THE 1984 NEW YORK ISLANDERS PASSED THE TOURCH TO WAYNE GRETZKY..SO DID NICK LINDSTROM PASS THE TOURCH TO SID “THE KID”CROSBY.a NEW DYNASTY IN HOCKEY HAS BEEN BORN! LET’S GO PENS!
jay, too bad when that torch was passed from Lidstrom, “the kid” didn’t have the courtesy or enough of a grasp of sportsmanship to shake the man’s hand.
Freddy, The Pens won the Cup….. its the Wings place to give them, or some of them, a few extra minutes to celebrate before leaving the ice. Sid was there, shook hands with your coach and several other Wings….. I would say it was impolite, discourteous and unsportsmanlike for your captain to leave the ice before Sid came to shake his hand. I was in Pittsburgh last year when the Wings won the cup and I can assure you that the Pens were ALL on the ice until just before the Cup was brought to the ice…….. probably a good 10 minutes after the game was over….. there was time for the handshake line to have taken place twice…… So its time to quit this petty whining….. you didnt hear any of that from the Penguins last year….. grow UP!!!
Is there any privacy anymore?! This (I assume) was a private function on private property for invited guests and someone has the audacity to post (or send) their pictures all over the internet. This site doesn’t even have the decency to say “thanks but no thanks” and to not even give photo credits shows you how low they’ll stoop to get news and page views.
Disgusting.
To my favourite player,
Mario Lemieux I am so happy for you guys this year for winning the STANLEY CUP, I’ve been a penguins fan since 1991 when I was six years old. Im from Coral Harbour NU, I went to go watch a game in Toronto this year when the pens played the leafs on January 31 2009, that was awesome.
get over it already redwing fan!!! sid missed the chance to shake lindstrom’s hand. Do you really think he wanted to miss that? of course not Sid has been nothing but class since he came into the league. it was the media that kept him away from the start of the redwings line, sorry but someone has to be the face of the league. I dont hear anyony complaining about Mike Babcock congratulating him for being a great leader when they met at the end of the line. if lindstrom wanted to shake his hand so badly he should have waited around.
Oh Hey Mario could I come vist you
you number one fan
P.s how much money !!!

Lidstrom never even had the torch… The latest greatest person of the game before this era was Jagr, 5 scoring titles… Tell me how many does Lidstrom have? thats right no where near Jagr
