The Stat Line Of The Night – 06/15/09 – Felix Hernandez

by: JamieD On  Wednesday, June 17, 2009

felix-hernandezTotal Pro Sports – In a season filled with mediocrity thus far, the Seattle Mariners do have one bright spot to dwell on.  That is their young ace Felix Hernandez, as he displayed his talents once again last night.  Coming off a string outing last game in which he only allowed one run, Hernandez upped his performance last night on the road against the San Diego Padres.

Looking to get back to .500, Hernandez took his team one step closer, pitching a complete game and allowing only two hits while striking out four in a 5-0 victory.  Padre batters had no answer for the 23-year-old righty.  His strong performance moved his record to 7-3 and earned him honors as “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Tuesday June 16th, 2009.

The Mariners will continue their series in San Diego tonight and look to add another win to their 31-33 record.  Seattle was expected to be a contender in the AL West this year, but they have not lived up to expectations.  With over half the year still remaining, they will have plenty of opportunities to change that.
