First forgive me, I have poor English. Im a capoeira teacher with the first instructor belt (blue, 10 years), and I practice thai box in the Hungarian Top Team.

Capoeira is mislead everyone who see it. That's was the goal of the inventors, the african slaves in brasil. So If you think this is just a dance you can understand what the slave keepers let them practise this. Unfortunatelly this dance used against them effectively in the revolts.

In the real, the capoeira is praciced like the other arts, for example the thai box. In the thai box there is the sparing, where you can't use full force in your attacks. This is the same thing in the capoeira, called jogo (playing). If you kick too hard in the sparing you may be forwarded to a harder oponent by your trainer. There is no enough place to explane the whole thing, but you can imagine how the capoeira works this way. Plus, the capoeira is very similar to the father of muai thai what is the muai thai chaya. The same kicks used in both. The weakness is the capoeira is the hand system.

Just a few MMA fighter who has capoeira background: Jean Silva (Cage Rage champ.), Mauritio Shogun Rua (UFC), Andre Gusmao (IFL champ.), Anderson Silva – UFC (he just started to learn)

Marcus “Lelo” Aurelio is not Marcus Aurélio Martins. This guy has never fought in Pride or UFC. Marcus Aurélio Martins aka ‘Maximus’ has fought in UFC and Pride.

Also, for all the doubters, this guy was in PRIDE where he won several fights, he now fights in UFC, granted his record is rough, but he's not exclusively Capoeira. He's not an amateur, he has beaten MANY renowned fighters.

His record is 18 wins and 7 losses

For the record there, rob, there are lots of martial arts such Capoeira and MANY forms of Kung Fu that were disguised as dance because people of the countries they were formed in were not allowed to practice fighting, so they "danced."

Bruce Lee preached on the benefits of dancing, and practiced dancing himself.

In Muay Thai, one of the foundations of Mixed Martial Arts, formal matches in Thailand are preceded by a RITUAL DANCE.

Many practitioners of Capoeira are also practitioners of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, one of the most dominent martial arts, being as they are both part of Brazilian Culture.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, according to your standards, would also be considered "Latino"

If you're gonna be racist with martial arts, you really don't have a leg to stand on, as you're probably gonna be hard pressed to find a Martial Art of American origin, you stupid bigot.
