Anthony Napolitan Lands The First BMX Double Front-Flip At 2009 X Games
Total Pro Sports - If you have never been to the X-Games then we recommend you try and catch this great event, you wont be disappointed. The opportunity to see the likes of X-Games greats; Travis Pastrana (Moto-Cross), Matt Hoffman (BMX) and Dave Mirra (BMX), is definitely worth every penny.
Yesterday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Summer X-Games 15 held one of the most amazing stunts. BMX'er Anthony Napolitan was the first ever rider to land a Double Front-flip without faceplanting. Somehting trully special we had to watch the video twice.
Just listen to the announcers in the video,
"That's was so impressive, that was ridiculous, what are you gonna add to that? That's it, that's the double front! I mean if I'm him I'm estatic that i pulled it and I'm happy of whatever happens next even a slam."
A historic moment in the sport, hopefully we can continue to see more ground breaking stunts throughout this years event.

wow that was amazing
OMG that was FUCKEN amazing
Too bad the judges didn’t seem to care. They gave him a terrible score. The crowd was pissed.
wowowwowowwoowo
@mackiej Your right the judges did give him a terrible score. I thought that was a joke. He deserved better
Im not sure how the scoring works and if it was averages of 2 tricks but im pretty sure it is your highest score is what counts, and for pullling something off thats never been done before he still only got 3rd place? what would a first place trick have had to consist of , you would think being the first person to land a trick would atleast be enough for second place . weak
I was so pissed off when after what seemed like forever the judges only gave Napolitan an 87.6 point score! After what will now be the trick that sets the mark for all competition, these judges didn’t even reward the effort. The winning trick was no where near as cool or even technical as a double front flip. The crowd knew it, I knew it, and Napolitan knew it. The judges screwed him. I’d have to guess it had a lot to do with who was sponsored by who and who wasn’t. Pure bullshit. Good job Tony. That was a damn cool trick.

Anthony is a friend of mine, i thought he deserved a better score also. However the judges combine the trick you do over the long straight jump with the trick that you do on the large quarterpipe to get your total score. The event is called Big Air so what they really want to see is a solid straight jump combined with an amazing quarter pipe trick. Im sure he recieved a near perfect score on the straight jump, but since he hit the vert wall with just a regular air (no trick variation) then points were taken away from his total score. Even if he had done a tabletop or something relatively easy, im sure he would have taken gold. But after he pulled that double front he probably didnt even care about the contest anymore. He was just so stoked to have pulled his dream trick. Mad props Anthony! You are the man! oh and to Daddio he’s sponsored by Levi’s, Monster, Hoffman Bikes, Duffs, Profile and Maxxis tires i think…
First ever.
Awesome.
