The Stat Line Of The Night – 08/17/09 – Chris Carpenter
Total Pro Sports – The St. Louis Cardinals’ Chris Carpenter has dominated the Dodgers over the past couple of seasons and last night was the same old story. With the top two teams in the National League squaring off, the Cards ace would make sure that his team ended up on the winning side of things, once again.
After experiencing some difficulty in the opening inning and allowing a single run, Carpenter settled down and was a nightmare for Dodgers batters throughout the remainder of the night. He would allow only one more run and his team would put three of their own on the board, just enough for the victory. Carpenter’s final numbers showed 8 innings pitched, five hits allowed, two earned runs, and eight strikeouts. That was enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday, August 17th, 2009.
Carpenter has been on fire as of late, winning his last eight decisions. He has started nine games since the beginning of July and has yet to lose over that period of time, posting an 8-0 record. Should he continue to put up such numbers, you can expect the 2005 CY Young Award winner to add another trophy to his case.
