The Stat Line Of The Night – 08/19/09 – Cliff Lee

1

Phillies Giants BaseballTotal Pro Sports - Last year's Cy Young award winner didn't get off to the best of starts, but he is sure making up for that now.  Having won his last six decisions in a row, Cliff Lee was looking to extend that streak against the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Not only would he succeed, but he made it look easy in the process.

Diamondback hitters had no answer for Lee, who pitched a remarkable game for his Philadelphia Phillies leading them to an 8-1 victory.  He would end up going the entire nine innings, allowing only one run on two hits while striking out an impressive 11 batters.  That performance was easily enough to earn him "The Stat Line Of The Night" for Wednesday, August 19th, 2009.

After almost giving up half of their future rotation to acquire Jays' ace Roy Halladay, the Phillies must be extremely pleased with their decision to trade for Lee at a much lower cost.  He remains undefeated with his new team, and already posting a strong lineup the addition of Lee's arm to the rotation only increases their chances of repeating as World Series champions.

Are you retarded? “didn’t get off to the best of starts”

He had a 3.14 ERA with Cleveland with run support rank somewhere in the 200’s of all starting pitchers. He was a steal for the Phillies and has had the CY Young stuff all year and finally landed with a team that can hit the ball.

The back to back World Series odds have gone up by 20-30% with this rotation.
