The Stat Line Of The Night – 08/23/09 – Michael Cuddyer
The Stat Line Of The Night – 08/24/09 – Miguel Cabrera
Total Pro Sports – In a battle between two teams that just may be seeing each other when October rolls around, it was the bats of the Detroit Tigers that reigned louder than those of the Los Angeles Angels, leading them to a 10-7 victory. Largely responsible for the big run outburst by the Tigers was first baseman Miguel Cabrera, who had a great day at the plate.
Stepping into the batter’s box five times throughout the evening, Carbrera belted three balls, each going for extra bases. Most impressive was his fifth inning homer with one man aboard which put the Tigers up 3-0. He would also add two doubles and three more RBIs en route to earning himself “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday, August 24th, 2009.
Should the playoffs begin today, the Angels would be lined up for a first round date with the Tigers. Both teams possess dangerous bats which would likely provide an entertaining series, but they must make it to October first. That means getting the important wins in August and September, and last night Cabrera helped his team do just that.
