Man! &*#( these people bi*ching about how this kid is a dumb redneck killing a unique specimen blub blub blub blub blah. Is this how milquetoast and feminized America has gotten?

Three years ago, I caught a blacktip down in Florida, about 85 lbs. We didn't know when we caught it it was pregnant, we released the four baby sharks and watched them learn how to swim, then had shark steaks that night.

You should probably curb the whole sportfishing thing, y'know? I mean, shortfin makos may put up an awesome fight and get you guys hella buzzed, but it's all for nought when your testosterone-drenched hobby causes pest populations to rise, leaving our oceans in a hell of a mess, like it's not already in a sorry enough state.

I've heard quilting's good fun, try that on for size chaps.

And as a by the by, I'm yet to know of anyone to taste shark and find it appetising, from what I've gathered it's not too tasty, not to mention the whole poisonous aspect of things.

for everyone who is bitching about how he killed the largest & most unique mako ever heard of (in Mass at least) , c'mon.. it's not like he KNEW the details about the shark. i bet most of u would have caught it too.. besides, it can still contribute to science, i'm sure… they could test his organs and what not… stop being such a bunch of whine bags…

now if this were one of the endangered shark species, i'd be a little more upset about it, but you have to consider that you have no idea what you've hooked on the line until you're staring at it nose to nose. it'd be cool if they give it to a local lab so they can examine it and record some handy data, it's better to have some knowledge then to have never known this shark existed =/

okay everyone who thinks this is cruel and killing off the fish in our oceans suck it you. they make limits for a reason most white people i know dont take anything under the size but all them asians and other foreigners taking what ever they catch are ruining it for all of us. fishing isnt a garenteed catch so go screw off when we hook something that is a keeper we feel great and its a awesome sport so go f*** yourselfs

Well, by me going and catching fish, and having food for a week or so, is destroying the planet? First off im doing the planet a favor because now i have food and dont have to go buy ranch raised beef from the grocery store, so im saving cows/grass/air (because you know cows poop alot) and im keeping the groundwater cleaner because of the fertilizer that is put in the fields…..i could go on and on. So when someone with alot more knowledge than you says "yes you are allowed to take X amount of this species) then im going to. And i feel im doing good by that, Hunters and Fishermen dont just kill for the "joy" of it. Alot of outdoorsmen respect the species they are targeting alot more than you ever will. When i kill fish, i know that it is a good thing, because that fish is providing for me and my family, so get off your box about being better than everyone else, because you are the ignorant one.

And if credentials matter, i am a marine scientist………been working in marine fisheries for quite a while
