49ers Vikings FootballTotal Pro Sports – Week three of the NFL season can be characterized by the number of streaks that came to an end.  First and foremost, there was the Detroit Lions streak of futility that ended at 19 games as they beat the equally poor Washington Redskins.  There was also the winning streak at Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers took into Cincinnati, as they had not lost in their last eight trips to Paul Brown Stadium (since 2001).  That ended with one final game winning drive by Carson Palmer and the Bengals.  And finally there was the streak of Terrell Owens, who had caught a pass in 185 consecutive games.  Number 186 was not meant to be as T.O. was shut out against the New Orleans Saints.

Here is a look back at what else transpired during this weekend’s games in this edition of the TSP Monday Afternoon

Quarterback.

Cleveland 3 at Baltimore 34 – McGahee continues his two TDs per game pace. It may be time for a quarterback change in Cleveland.

Washington 14 at Detroit 19 – It’s official.  The Lions will be better this year than last, but how much better?

Jacksonville 31 at Houston 24 – The Texans run defense bears a striking resemblance to a piece of swiss cheese.

Atlanta 10 at New England 26 – Brady still appears to be off, but the Pats still win.

Green Bay 36 at St. Louis 17 – At 0-3, the Rams appear destined to be this season’s Detroit Lions

New York Giants 24 at Tampa Bay 0 – That goose egg is enough to get Byron Leftwich’s ass glued to the bench.

Tennessee 17 at New York Jets 24 – Early turnovers were costly for a Titans team that now finds themselves at 0-3.

Kansas City 14 at Philadelphia 24 – Vick was back, but it was Kevin Kolb making headlines under center for the Eagles.

San Francisco 24 at Minnesota 27The 49ers were seconds away from 3-0 but the magic of Favre eventually came through.

New Orleans 27 at Buffalo 7 – No touchdowns for Brees and the Saints still win.

Chicago 25 at Seattle 19 – It is only fitting that a team with such ugly jerseys losses the game.

Pittsburgh 20 at Cincinnati 23 – No love for Big Ben in Ohio this time around.

Denver 23 at Oakland 3 – Are the Broncos really this good, or are the Bengals, Browns and Raiders just that bad?

Miami 13 at San Diego 23 – With Pennington out, the Dolphins may want to use the wildcat on all downs.

Indianapolis 31 at Arizona 10 – Warner was the obvious loser of this quarterback battle.
