The Stat Line Of The Night – 10/07/09 – Cliff Lee
Total Pro Sports – In the first game of the 2009 MLB post season which saw the Colorado Rockies face Philadelphia Phillies, we were definitely not disappointed. The ever so dominate Phillies proved once again that they are again the team to beat in this years playoffs.
On the mound for the Phillies was ace Cliff Lee and for the Colorado Rockies Ubaldo Jiminez. In his first playoff appearance Cliff Lee looked as if he was a regular and didn’t show any nerves on the mound. Not only did the Philadelphia Phillies easily win the game, Cliff Lee pitched a fantastic game retiring 16 straight batters and was one strike away from a complete game shutout. Making him“The Stat Line Of The Night” for Tuesday, October 7th, 2009.
“Lee, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, struck out five and had no walks in his first career playoff start. He retired 16 straight batters at one point until Garrett Atkins hit a wind-blown double in the seventh. Lee lost his shutout when Troy Tulowitzki doubled in a run with two outs in the ninth.”
I wonder now if the Cleveland Indians are kicking themselves for trading away All Star Cliff Lee for basically a bag of ball?
