2009 NHL Fantasy 3 Stars: Week 2
Fantasy Football: Week 6 Start’em & Sit’em
Total Pro Sports – It can be tough to make the decision between starting or sitting specific players throughout your fantasy season based on favorable or tough match-ups.
TPS is here to help you make such decisions with our weekly Start’em & Sit’em post where we will break down each position and give you some players you may want to consider starting, and some you might be better off sitting.
Start’em: Matt Hasselbeck vs. ARI – Hasselbeck made his return to the field last week after suffering a rib injury, and showed no signs of rust as he torched the Jags defense for 241 yards and four touchdowns. This week he will be given the oportunity to light it up through the air once again when his Seahawks take on the Arizona Cardinals and their 32nd ranked pass defense which has allowed 303 YPG and 9 touchdowns thus far this season. Expect a strong stat line from Hasselbeck in this one.
Other QB start’ems worth noting: Aaron Rodgers vs.DET, Ben Roethlisberger vs. CLE, Jake Delhomme vs. TB
Sit’em: Trent Edwards vs. NYJ – After getting off to a strong start, Edwards has fallen hard, recording only one touchdown and five interceptions in his last three games. Do not expect him to turn things around this weekend against a Jets defense that ranks 8th against the pass and has only allowed three touchdowns through the air. Rex Ryan’s club will be hungry after a Monday night loss to the dolphins and that could mean Edwards will be sitting on the bench before this one is over.
Other QB sit’ems worth noting: Matt Cassel vs. WSH, Eli Manning vs. NO, Derek Anderson vs. PIT
Start’em: Cedric Benson vs. HOU – Last week we had Benson on our sit’em and he went off against an otherwise stout Ravens rush defense for 120 yards and a touchdown. This week he will be up against a Texans defense that ranks 26th against the run and has allowed a league high 9 touchdowns on the ground. Benson has slowed down at times against weaker opponents, but don’t expect that to be the case this week.
Other RB start’ems worth noting: Ryan Grant vs. DET, Knowshon Moreno vs. SD, Rashard Mendenhall vs. CLE
Sit’em: Jamal Lewis vs. PIT – Just when everyone though Jerome Harrison would be taking over as the feature back in Cleveland’s running game, Jamal Lewis came out and carried the ball 33 times for 114 yards. Expect a drop this weekend against the Steelers, who rank 2nd against the run and have allowed only 71.2 YPG and one touchdown on the ground thus far this season.
Other RB sit’ems worth noting: Julius Jones vs. SEA, LaDainian Tomlinson vs. DEN, Ray Rice vs. MIN
Start’em: Wes Welker vs. NE – After missing weeks two and three due to injuries, Welker has been on the field the past two weekends and that should be the case for his week six match up against the Tennessee Titans. Welkers numbers were impressive last week as he recorded 8 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. He should be able to improve on that against a Titans defense which has allowed 287.6 YPG and 13 touchdowns through the air in five games.
Other WR start’ems worth noting: Nate Burleson vs. ARI, Donald Driver vs. DET, Santana Moss vs. KC
Sit’em: Terrel Owens vs. NYJ – Aside from Ted Ginn Jr.’s 56 yard touchdown reception this past Monday night, number one receivers have not had much to show after games against the Jets. Much of that is the result of Darrelle Revis. He was able to shut down the likes of Randy Moss, Andre johnson and Marques Colston, and Terrell Owens will likely be next on that list.
Other WR sit’ems worth noting: Antonio Bryant vs. CAR, Derrick Mason vs. MIN, Marquese Colston vs. NYG
Start’em: Brent Celek vs. OAK – Although Oakland’s defense has not been all that bad against the run, their total defense is among the worst in the league. the Eagles have a knack for throwing the ball rather than running it and that could bode well for Celek when they get near the goalline.
Other TE start’ems worth noting: Jermichael Finley vs.DET, Todd Heap vs. MIN, Kellen Winslow vs. CAR
Sit’em: Zach Miller vs. PHI – As long as Jamarcus Russell is under center for the Raiders, we will continue to advise benching Miller.
Other TE sit’ems worth noting: Visanthe Shiancoe vs. BAL, Kevin Boss vs. NO, Bo Scaife vs. NE
Start’em: Matt Prater vs. SD – The Broncos should be able to move the ball against a weak Chargers defense, and that will work out well for Prater.
Sit’em: Nate Kaeding vs. DEN – The Broncos are allowing only 4.8 fantasy PPG to kickers.
Start’em: Eagles vs. OAK – A strong Eagles defense should be able to force plenty of turnovers against a Raiders offense that appears to be in shambles.
Sit’em: Bears vs. NE – The Falcons offense seems to have come around last week after putting up bg numbers against a strong 49ers defense. The Bears may be in for a long day.
