The Stat Line of the Night – 10/15/09 – Raul Ibanez

0

Raul IbanezTotal Pro Sports - Raul Ibanez came up to the plate with runners in scoring position in Game 1 of the NLCS. It was the only time during the game he would be at-bat with men on base. He made the most of it, jacking a three-run homer to pad the Phillies' lead and ensure that the reigning world champs would win game 1.

Overall the Phillies' left fielder was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Add that to powering your team to a game 1 NLCS win and that's good enough for "The Stat Line Of The Night" for Thursday, October 15th, 2009. The Dodgers held a 1-0 lead until a wacky 5th inning. That's when the Phillies scored 5 runs to go ahead. The Dodgers scored 3 of their own in the bottom half of the inning to make 5-4. It stayed that way until the 8th inning. And that's when Ibanez hit the big homer of lefty George Sherrill to extend the Phillies lead. And it's a good thing he did. The Dodgers came back again in the bottom of the 8th with 2 more runs. So Ibanez' homer was essentially the game-winner.

Could these Phils win it all again? It's starting to look that way.
