The Stat Line of the Night – 10/27/09 – Gilbert Arenas
Total Pro Sports- Last night was the kickoff of the NBA season. LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, and many other stars were on display for the first night of the season. But one star deserves the Stat Line of the Night above all those others: Gilbert Arenas. He scored 29 points on 10/21 shooting and dished out 9 assists.
What made his night the best of the night was not necessarily anything statistically spectacular (although 29 points and 9 assists is a very good night), but the fact that Arenas looked like he is completely back from his numerous knee injuries and surgeries the last couple seasons. Playing without a knee brace or pad of any kind, Arenas looked like the Agent Zero of old. Although his 29 points came in a quiet fashion, he was weaving in and out of traffic, getting to the basket, setting up teammates, and knocking down the occasional jumper with a hand in his face.
Arenas’ return to the hardwood at almost 100% is great for Gilbert, but also bodes well for a Wizards team that has seemed lost at times over the last two seasons without his skill and leadership. The East may have a new playoff team, and Gilbert Arenas seems to be at the controls.
