Mayor Bloomberg Can Only Dream of a Championship
Total Pro Sports- The Yankees are finally back in the World Series after a nice hiatus. Whether you love them or hate them, you have to admit they definitely deserve to be there. They had the best all-around team in the American League and maybe in all of baseball this year. That is, until they ran into the buzzsaw known as Cliff Lee and the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1 of the Series last night.
And it must have been a quiet buzzsaw at that, because the Mayor of New York City, who had prime seats to the game, slipped into some sort of coma sometime in the 9th inning. While most fans were booing and getting angry, Mayor Bloomberg took a little snooze. Perhaps he was dreaming about a different outcome for the game. I’m sure that a lot of the Yankees fans wished they could have slept through that disaster of a game. Maybe not Yankees wheelchair guy, who was ready to grab a bat at any time, but pretty much everyone else.
The crazy thing about the Cliff Lee - C.C. Sabathia matchup is that it could happen again….and again. Game 4 and if necessary, Game 7, will likely feature the same match-up. Hopefully somebody will get Bloomberg some coffee before that happens, or maybe light him up Pop-Warner style.
And by the way, what is Bernie Williams so damn happy about?
