Either Rogers either really sucks, was really tired or the fight was rigged for that punch to have landed. Fedor telegraphed it from a mile away, which is partly what made it so sweet. Any MMA fighter with half-decent stand-up would have blocked or avoided that punch. There was no combo, Fedor didn’t even have to sneak it in. He took a hop-step loaded up and let his hand fly. It’s the knock-out we all imagine doing but that a half-decent fighter would never allow happen.
i think rogers was getting a little gassed… but not exhausted. i thought rogers did pretty well too. what a lot of people don’t seem to realize is how fast fedor is. don’t know if you saw the fight in real-time, but that was a rocket of a punch.
It wasn’t rigged. Fedor exposed Rogers’ weakness which was his left hand strike. Watch the fight again during the first round (at 2:45 remaining) you’ll see that Fedor waited till Rogers swung his left (did the same thing the in the second round which led to KO)
It is a great credit to a winning fighter when he exposes the losing fighter’s weakness. However, you do not move in on somebody in a stand-up game with your arms down and your chin up. You have to have your chin down and your hands have to be up and in front of your head which is exactly what Rogers did not do. It is not that Fedor exposed Roger’s weakness, it’s that Rogers made a beginner’s mistake. Fedor moves very well and what impresses me the most about his game is his ability to move from his striking directly into his judo. Fedor closes in on his opponents with punches then he twists his hips and throws them to the ground in one motion. He does it so well that you almost think his opponent slipped but he didn’t, he was thrown. The only fighter I have ever seen that has the same fluidity is GSP. GSP goes from his karate into his wrestling incredibly fast. There is almost no way to defend his take downs. I would love to see Fedor throw Brock. Unfortunately, Fedor’s top game was seriously lacking. Brock would reverse Fedor just like Rogers did, only I do not think Fedor would escape from underneath Brock. Basically a Brock v Fedor fight would show Fedor throw Brock and let him up and throw him again until Brock finally clinches Fedor, gets him down, and pounds him into oblivion.

dude you can keep slittin hair but the reality is Brett is a monster and can give anybody run for their money. Fedor took his heavy punch and didnt faze at all, he was ready as new to box again. Brett did laid some heavy shots on the ground but Fedor masterfully turned in2 amost – armbar. start of the second round fight ended. so for me it was just one round match.

1) UFC contract will not allow him Sambo, judo participations that he has been doin all his life and love to death: how is that fair to a fighter???
2) if the match doesnt go the way Dana wanted or if Fedor loses the match his contract may be terminated or he will have to sit and wait for Dana’s instructions. he is locked up in the contract: how is that fair with any athlete or sportsman????
3) money offered is not great, plus dana doesnt not let him co-promote m1: if UFC is that big and has all the best fighters why is DANA so scared of co-promoting one fight?? My take on the fight: Rogers is considerably decent for his short-lived career thus far. Critics claim that guy was fed cans, and that guy, and that other guy, but anyone in mma, however great or poor their talents may be have at some point fought cans, and really good fighters.
Fedor has fought a few cans for sure, but so has everyone else. The point is that Fedor worked his way up, like most other fighters have (excluding Brock Lesnar) and he is where he is for a reason. No, Rogers gave Fedor one of the best fights of Fedor’s career. I’m not saying he gave him the best competition, just saying he is actually a pretty good fighter, especially considering how few fights he’s had. As for saying, “Either Rogers really sucks, was really tired or the fight was rigged for that punch to have landed.” well, there’s no question that Rogers was really fatigued from Fedor wearing him out for certain, but as for Fedor’s “lucky” punch that so many people like to conclude on Fedor’s behalf, I say not at all luck, but rediculous speed and accuracy. If you did see the Fedor vs Arlovski fight, that is a good (but not the only) measure to cross-evaluate Fedor’s timing and abilities no doubt.
It’s way too easy to make such an assessment about a fighter conveniently always landing accurate and hard punches, but in this case with this fight and Fedor’s reputation, I don’t understand how anyone that is familiar with him would even be surprised by how this fight went, or any of his 30 plus other fights for that matter. Fedor really is that good. As the old saying goes, “Sometimes the most obvious things go unnoticed even when it is standing right in front of you (or something to that nature).”

The only way you would think Fedor “hasn’t beat anyone with a big name” is if you only started watching MMA within the last few years. Fedor has beaten pretty much a whos-who of MMA legends. Sure, he has never fought in the UFC (something that will make him a nobody to casual fans who don’t know any better) but the guy has destroyed FIVE former UFC heavyweight champions (btw Arlovski was 29 when they fought, hardly over the hill).

Is he the best MMA fighter, no. Is he the best Heavy weight fighter out there, I would have to say yes. In my opinion the fight was stop a bit early, I wanted to see Fedor finish Brett off. I think he is one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world, but it’s too hard to really choose who is the best without having them face off against each other at the same weight, which of course would be impossible. Top fighters in no specific order, Fedor, GSP, Anderson Silva, Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres.

If Brett would have kept his hands up and kept sticking him with his Jab like he did in the first part which broke fedors nose he might have won. but he let his left hand drop and tried to throw a sloppy jab and ate a big straight. Kudos to fedor for seeing the opening. But In the first round fedor looked a bit sloppy throwing those wild punches. I think only time will tell if he will be the best in mma but as of right now I don’t believe he is.

What makes Fedor so good is that, unlike almost every other fighter out there, he is good at almost every aspect of a fight. He can stand and throw. He has great takedown defence. He can ground and pound. He’s incredibly dangerous on his back. And he can take a huge amount of punishment without being overly phased. You see other fighters try to work different angles depending on who they fight. Fedor is pretty much always the same – well rounded. And w/o a real loss. Although Lesnar has proven himself to be quite the fighter, my money would be on Fedor.

He takes time to asses opponents such as Rogers and Arlovski. Then strikes. The Jab to the nose was just a jab and we forget the shot Fedor landed in the first round.
Fedor is a tacticion, sometimes he’s gonna finish quickly, other times he won’t. I gotta say, everytime he wins, and that HAS to say something. He WAS NOT getting bullied by either Arlovski or Brett…he was simply biding his time.

The reason Fedor doesn’t fight in the UFC is because the owner, that fag9ot dana white, demands that every fighter sign over his entire career to the UFC. Fedor has his own managment and promotion team and there’s no fcuking way he’s going to the UFC on those terms, which is essentially slavery.

I have to say when I watched that fight Fedor did everything perfectly he threw submissions when he was on the ground and just compeltely controlled the fight. He was the aggressor the whole time constantly putting pressure on this stand-up boxer. He waited for the guy to lead in with his left and the second he saw him step in he new he was going to throw his left, so he just loaded an explosive right that knock out Rogers, but give Rogers a hand he actually made it past the first round.
Emelianenko does it again! I remember when I first started watching MMA, it often seemed that Fedor got lucky in his wins. But after studying his fights a few times I began to recognize that his wins are no accident at all. Emelianenko has Terminator vision; I have seen no other MMA fighter who is as adept at sizing up opponents, watching, waiting, taking abuse, and sometimes even pretending… until he sees the hole. And then it’s game over. Emelianenko is the Ali of MMA, except his record is better. Emelianenko is the best we have ever seen. I think he will remain undefeated for at least two more years. And when he finally gets out of the game, we’ll be wistfully looking back at the last emperor’s reign.

The reason why Fedor is the best fighter in the world is well described by most on this page. To compare Fedor to GSP or Silva is ignorant. Yes, Silva and GSP are the most dominant and will go down in history as the best. Yet they are in the welter and middleweight divisions. Fedor is at the top of the food chain at heavy weight. In other words he can and has defeated any man who is worth taking the challenge. You wouldn’t think it but his body frame and how he uses what he has is impeccable and incomparable to anyone in his weight class, let alone the sport. He is the best and will remain. Brett Rogers really was the guy to beat for Fedor before the match. Many people have said that Arlovski was winning the fight against Fedor before he got knocked out en then Brett Rogers defeated Arlovski in something like 22 seconds.

Ok let me break this down to you we know Fedor has one hit knockout power, we know that is Ground and pound is deadly, his Sambo skills will tear your arm off and put into a submission. His speed on his right hand is lightning fast (ask Brett Rogers.) His mental game is incredible, his footwork and explosiveness will leave you dazed. Brock Lesnar in the other hand had only 5 fights, which one he lost to Frank Mir to a leg lock. He beat 46 year old Randy Couture for the UFC championship Title. Brock is a amateur and when he fights i can see he leaves a lot of openings which happens to be Fedor’s specialty.
After watching all of Brock Lesnar fights than Fedors. I can’t stand behind my bud Brock no longer. He leaves way too much opening and guess what, thats fedor’s specialty.
