90041000TH005_WARRIORS_MAVERICKSThe Golden State Warriors had a tough test ahead of them last night.  Traveling to Dallas to take on the Mavericks, they found themselves minus their head coach, Don Nelson, who stayed home to recover from pneumonia.  Their bench had also taken a hit, forcing them to dress only eight players.  It things were not already hard enough, the Warriors decided to play only six of those eight players for the entire 48 minutes, but still came out on top, and much of that was a result of the effort put forth by Monta Ellis.

Their other guards, Anthony Morrow and Stephan Curry, were also impressive, recording 27 and 18 points respectively, but Ellis was the story in this one.  The fourth-year man recorded 13 of his season-high 37 points in the fourth quarter as the Warriors came back late to beat the Mavs by a score of 111-103.  Ellis also added a team-high eight rebounds and four assists during a performance that has earned him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Tuesday, November 24, 2009.

The Warriors have had their fair share of troubles all year, winning only four games prior to last night, but a victory over the high-flying Mavs on their home court may be just what this team needed to turn things around.  It was only the second time Dallas was defeated at home all season, and although they were short handed as well, the Warriors deserve full credit for their effort.  Now the key will be to turn that impressive performance into a winning streak.
