The Stat Line of the Night – 12/03/09 – LaMichael James
There was a lot on the line for the Oregon Ducks on Thursday night. Win the game and they win the PAC-10 and go to their first Rose Bowl since 1995. They would need to beat their big time rival Oregon St. in “The Civil War” to get it done.
Turns out that LeGarrette Blount throwing hands at Boise State was a blessing in disguise for the Ducks. Why? Because it made the Ducks play LaMichael James. And he’s the man to thank because Oregon beat Oregon St. 37-34 behind James’ amazing game.
The Beavers scored first on a Jacquizz Rodgers TD run. James got it right back with a 1-yd. plunge. In the 2nd quarter, the Beavers were on top 16-14. James put the Ducks back on top with another TD run. Oregon St. then scored 14 unanswered points to lead 30-21 and it looked as if they would win “The Civil War”.
But Blount scored a TD — his first game back from suspension — and the Ducks were back in it. The Beavers managed another field goal by Justin Kahut — his 4th of the game — and the Beavers had the lead yet again.
James saved his best run of the night to get the lead back for good for the Ducks. He rambled 52 yards for the score, his 3rd of the game. In total, James rushed 25 times for 166 yards and scored 3 TDs. The Ducks are off to the Rose Bowl, and LaMichael James has The Stat Line of the Night for 12/03/09.
