Brandon Marshall #15It was the beginning of an entirely new season for many fantasy football owners as most leagues began their first round of playoff action, and there were several big performances put on by marquee players which likely created some rather interesting/exciting games during this ever-so-important week of football.  Most notable was the 21 reception, 200 yard, two touchdown performance by Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, which was not enough to hand the Colts their first loss of the season, but it was enough to provide many of his fantasy owners with a victory.  This season’s fantasy stud, Chris Johnson, was also up to his usual self, recording 186 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.  Then there were the likes of Andre Johnson (193 yards, two touchdowns), Peyton Manning (220 yards, 4 TDs), or Adrian Peterson (137 yards from scrimmage, two touchdowns), all of whom were likely the cause of celebration fro some owners, and despair for others.

Here is a look at what happened during week 14 in this edition of the TPS Monday Afternoon Quarterback.

Pittsburgh 6 at Cleveland 13 - What better way to seal your fate than a loss to the Browns.

New Orleans 26 at Atlanta 23 – The Saints undefeated run is alive but they continue to make things interesting.

Detroit 3 at Baltimore 48 - the entire Lions offense was barely able to outgain Ravens RB Ray Rice.

Green Bay 21 at Chicago 14 – After an impressive fantasy regular season, Rodgers was a first round disappointment, much like Brady in 2007.

Seattle 7 at Houston 34 – You would think that after opening the game with a 64 yard touchdown pass, the Seahawks would consider covering Andre Johnson a little better.

Denver 16 at Indianapolis 28 – For a guy who couldn’t catch anything in training camp, Brandon Marshall sure did make up for that, in a losing cause however.

Miami 14 at Jacksonville 10 – Not even Ricky Williams’ case of fumblitis was enough to help the Jags in this one.

Buffalo 16 at Kansas City 10 – Jamaal Charles continues to impress, but the Chiefs have several other problems.

Cincinnati 10 at Minnesota 30Welcome back to the world of fantasy relevance Adrian Peterson!!!

Carolina 10 at New England 20 – Deja Vu!  Brady and Moss once again disappoint in the first round of the fantasy playoffs.

New York Jets 26 at Tampa Bay 3 – No Sanchez?  No problem!

St. Louis 7 at Tennessee 47 – There simply is no stoping Chris Johnson, this year’s fantasy MVP.

Washington 34 at Oakland 13 - And in this weeks “Battle of Insignificance”…

San Diego 20 at Dallas 17 – After looking at Rivers’ and Romo’s December records, this one should not have been much of a surprise.

Philadelphia 45 at New York Giants 38 – What better way to end a full slate of Sunday games than with a shootout between two division rivals.
