The Stat Line of the Night – 12/21/09 – Andrew Bogut
Who? Yeah, Andrew Bogut. The Australian with the slow feet and no vertical leap has performed admirably lately. He has also been under the radar. Bogut plays for the Bucks, a team that was supposed to be in the gutter of the Eastern Conference but has surprised many people with its play. While the exciting story about the Bucks this season may be the rookie sensation Brandon Jennings, Bogut was the key to last night’s victory over the Pacers.
In the game Bogut scored 31 points on a ridiculous 14-19 shooting from the field. He also snagged 18 rebounds for the monster double-double. He had 3 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal to go with it. While the Bucks have been playing about .500 ball this year they had lost their last 3 games and Bogut’s performance helped stop the bleeding. The Bucks were down 9 in the 3rd quarter but Bogut didn’t quit, posting 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block in the period to help them overcome the deficit and eventually win the game.
Although Bogut was the number 1 overall pick in 2005, he has been plagued by injuries his whole career. Last night was different, however, and it earned him The Stat Line of the Night. Hopefully there will be more to come from the clumsy-looking Australian.
