The Stat Line of the Night – 12/28/09 – Devin Aromashodu
Devin who? That was what most of America was asking after they watched the Bears beat the Vikings on Monday Night Football last night. Devin Aromashodu was a key component to the Bears win filling in for the injured Devin Hester. The Bears have not been great this season; in fact they’ve been downright awful since getting off to a relatively good start. The Vikings on the other hand, were picked by many experts as the team to beat in the NFC. After taking this second straight loss last night they may even drop from a possible 1 seed and a bye all the way down to a wild card berth and a possible first round road game.
Devin Aromashodu is not exactly a household name for most Americans, but he showed something last night. He caught 7 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown. As spectacular as those numbers are, his biggest contribution came on the last play of the game. The Bears had blown a 17 point second half lead and allowed the Vikings to push the game into overtime. In overtime, however, Aromashodu put it away, catching a game-winning 39 yard touchdown pass from Jay Cutler.
Aromashodu is a tall, strong, talented wide receiver. Hopefully this kid will perform admirably down the road, but on this day he can rest assured that he has earned the “Stat Line of the Night”.
