Sean Lamont Lays Huge Hit on Isa Nacewa (Video)
Each time I watch rugby I learn to like it more and more. I know most of you out there that follow rugby think soccer and football are like having tea with grandmother compared to the hard hits and physical nature of the game. Had you asked me last year whether I agreed with that, the answer would have been a definitive no. That is no longer the case. First we saw Will Skinner get leveled last week, and now this clip of Sean Lamont absolutely destroying Isa Nacewa.
No pads, no real helmets, no protection of any kind. that is what makes this game more dangerous and physical than soccer, football, and even hockey. And sure, Lamont gets a yellow card for leading with his shoulders instead of his hands or arms, but that hit may have broken some ribs and Lamont almost got away without any penalties. Even with the yellow card he can return to the game.
Do I completely understand the game of rugby? No. Do most Americans? Probably not. But it is one of those things you don’t have to completely understand to enjoy. As long as you like earth-shattering hits and dirty-looking, toothless Europeans beating each other up on a grass field, you can enjoy this wonderful sport.
