The Stat Line of the Night – 12/29/09 – Chris Paul
It’s been a rough year for Chris Paul. His team has been struggling, he’s been battling injuries, and his coach and friend Byron Scott was fired. Even his Stat Line of the Night performance last night was not enough to help his team overcome the Rockets in Houston. Even in the loss, and with all the issues swirling around him and his team, Paul was able to shine.
Entering the 4th quarter, Paul’s Hornets were up 82-74 and with Paul and his teammate David West cruising along, they looked to be in good position to steal a win on the road. Unfortunately they melted down a bit, being outscored 34-18 in the final quarter and losing 108-100. Paul did his best, however. He posted a triple-double with 16 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds. He also had 2 steals and 2 blocks. This was the 7th triple-double of Paul’s career, but just the first this season. His teammate David West also had a stellar night scoring 44 points and snaggin 12 rebounds.
The allure and rarity of the triple-double was too much to resist however, allowing Chris Paul the honor of taking home “The Statline of the Night” honors. It’s been a tough year for the superstar point guard, but I think we can all rest assured that he will continue to put on displays like the one we saw last night.
