Alex Ovechkin’s Skate Blades Are On Fire
There should be no questioning Alex Ovechkin’s pride for his home country, Russia. After all, the Washington Capitals’ sniper has made it clear to the world that he intends to leave the NHL, if need be, in order to play at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
When Ovi took to the ice with his fellow Russian teammates for practice Monday prior to their Olympic opener against Latvia, he showed that pride once again, but this time it was his skates doing the talking.
After telling reporters that his Olympic skates would have a “twist of their own,” the wait was finally over when photographers were able to capture some snapshots of his fashionable new footwear. So what do they consist of? How about a fiery blade that includes an evil daemon, a Russian flag, and the number eight.
Of course, this is not Ovechkin’s first piece of equipment to catch on fire, and Russian supporters will be hoping that it isn’t the last.
