Roller Derby is for losers. When has skating in a circle ever been considered tough? Going to one of these things is like attending a Daddy Love me convention. Please stop telling yourself that this is a sport, and if you can't do that, then just keep it to your self.

There are legitimate roller derby leagues everywhere, and then there are some who still play into the 70s stereotype. There are similarities but there are vast differences. Similarities in that we're on skates, that's it.

There are some legit leagues who also play up the T&A aspect, but there are others who shun that particular manner of marketing, as well…

I've been doing this for 4 years and I've seen both sides…most of the ones at this point who are ranked or worth a damn are the ones who forego fishnets for yoga pants, pushup bras for sports jerseys and slap n tickle for johnny crashes and strategy. Just sayin.

I can tell you for sure today's Derby is not fake. It was not fake at it's inception back in 1935 either. but once the promoters got hold of it, it did take on a Globe trotter type atmosphere for a decade of so, to try to make money for the promoters. But to day it is the fasted Growing Sport on the Planet. and is owned and operated by the same Alpha Women that play the sport. Get some friends together, and go catch a Bout, before you go off half coked, and make your self look like a dumb ass.–and I mean that in the kindest way possible. Feel me??

That's because wrestling IS fake. Yes, most of the athletics are real, but it's all scripted, unlike roller derby. That's what we're disputing. Nobody said anything bad about wrestling, just that roller derby is nothing like it, which is a fact.

Most of these women have a valid point. Roller-derby is tough, athletic, and competitive. I don't dispute that. But guess what? SO IS WRESTLING!!! Sure, the end is pre-determined. But I've seen many derby women cross over into pro-wrestling, and guess what? Most of those women weren't able to athletically hack it.

All these skaters have done is show a hypo-critical ignorance to any other sport besides their own. The movement wants to be considered legit, but doesn't want to hold itself to any other sport's standards. Stop being close-minded. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Tripsy Daisy stated "The women of derby realize how simple men are. We know that if we show a little T&A men will buy their first ticket to a bout." How does that make your sport legit? Women's soccer doesn't show T&A. Neither does Women's basketball. Derby is probably the only sport that advertises itself as "Hot" and "Sexxy". Why can't women's derby hold itself to the same standard that other women's sports do?

Roller-Derby to this day shares many aspects of pro-wrestling. The fake names, Referee's with stage names, entrance music, smack-talk that's purposely made to generate interest. Athletes who get the spotlight due to their personality, charisma, or looks, and not athletic ability. I can't even count how many leagues plaster the image of their prettiest skaters on their posters, and not the toughest people in their league.

All this self-righteousness only hurts the positive aspects of roller- derby. Why don't all of you practice what you preach, and study what you're arguing against. Otherwise, you're just killing the credibility that every skater has sacrificed, and worked so hard for. Many women gave their bodies to derby, and some don't walk the same in their post-derby life.

Don't disrespect the many men and WOMEN who have *ALSO* sacrificed their bodies for the credibility of their sport. you don't hear them whining when people call them fake. Even when their athletics are VERY real.

Obviously roller derby isn't a real sport. Real athletes get paid money and endorse pepsi products, whereas derby girls do it for, gasp, the love of the sport.

Uh, no. Actually roller derby is not scripted. It is an actual sport. Winners are not predetermined at all. It is nothing like pro wrestling whatsoever.
