The Stat Line of the Night – 3/22/10 – Derrick Rose

Derrick RoseThe Bulls were playing well enough to get their second straight win, and Derrick Rose was the catalyst.  With Rose out of the lineup, the Bulls stumbled into a 10-game losing streak.  The losing streak may have put a dagger in their playoff hopes, but Rose is making it clear he wants to will this team into the playoffs.  Performances like last night’s will go a long way towards doing that.

Derrick Rose scored 27 points with 8 assists and 7 rebounds to lead his Bulls to a 98-88 victory over the visiting Houston Rockets.  Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro was ejected in the second half after he argued with the refs following some atrocious officiating.  None of that nonsense stopped Derrick, who scored 11 of his 27 points in the 4th quarter.  He was 12-22 from the field as well.  He also did something he rarely does, hit a couple of three-pointers.  That kind of range has eluded him for most of his career, but it appears he is starting to get more comfortable from behind the arc.

The Bulls still sit 2.5 games out of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.  The teams ahead of them won last night as well.  The only chance they have at the playoffs is if D-Rose plays out of his mind in the next 12 games and one of the teams ahead of them stumbles.  It looks like the first part will be taken care of, as Rose Snags another “Stat Line of the Night”.
