Fan Attacks Coach On The Bench During Swedish Elite League Game
There was a time when all the Swedish Elite League appeared to offer us was countless highlight reel goals, but now that it is playoff time and tensions are at an all time high, it appears as though the sweet hands have been traded in for some heavy fists of rage.
This was evident a few days ago when Linkoping goaltender Fredrik Norrena left the face of Frolunda’s Jens Karlsson bloodied, and violence was once again the theme of the night yesterday during a game between AIK and Rogle.
With the two teams battling it out in sudden death overtime, a goal by Daniel Rahimi silenced most of the AIK crowd, but there were a few who were not satisfied (especially after being taunted by Rahimi’s “Shh” taunt). Rather than head home with the bitter taste of defeat in their mouths, they decided to take their aggression out on the Rogle coaching staff, storming the bench in an attempt to let out some frustration.
The crazy fan who initiates the entire melee was apprehended by security and police quickly arrived on the scene to prevent any further action from taking place.
In the end, Rahimi was hoping that his goal would quiet the boisterous AIK crowd, but all it did was make them louder.
