The Stat Line of the Night – 5/30/10 – Albert Pujols
When it comes to hitting home runs, Albert Pujols has somewhat struggled thus far this season, at least by his standards. Coming into yesterday afternoon’s game, the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman had only managed to hit nine out of the park through the first two months, but a big game against the Chicago Cubs would help him change that.
Pujols stepped to the plate five times and turned three of those at bats into homers, while walking the other two times. He would finish the game going 3-for-3 with three homers, four runs, and four RBIs, leading his Cards to a 9-1 victory, and earning himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, May 30, 2010.
Pujols now has twelve homers on the season, putting him in a tie with four others for tops in the National League, and four behind the Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista for the Major League lead. With over four months remaining in the 2010 season, there is still plenty of time for Albert to make his move to the top. A few more three-homer games would certainly help.
