The Stat Line of the Night – 6/16/10 – Scott Baker
The Twins opened Target Field this year after almost 3 decades in that hefty bag known as the Metrodome. I think it’s safe to say that the Twins like their new ballpark.
The Twins welcomed the Colorado Rockies to town for some interleague play and the new stadium was packed to capacity. The fans didn’t get a lot of fireworks from the offensive side of the game, but they did get to see a pitching clinic from starter Scott Baker.
Baker pitched seven shutout innings, gave up just two singles and a walk, didn’t allow a runner past first base and retired 13 of his last 14 batters. Baker also struck out 12 Rockies, and eleven of them were swinging. He had the Rockies mystified.
Colorado got a run after Baker left, but Minnesota held on for the 2-1 win. They also keep their 2.5 game lead in the AL Central. Scott Baker has The Stat Line of the Night for 6/16/10.
