Food Fight Turns Into Gun Fight At Michael Vick Birthday Party
Just when it seemed as though Michael Vick had moved beyond the darker days that haunted his past and caused him to serve time in jail, trouble has once again followed the NFL quarterback.
Details at the moment are somewhat sketchy, but sources have indicated that Quanis Phillips, one of the co-defendants in Vick’s 2007 federal dogfighting trial, was shot early Friday morning outside a Virginia Beach club that was hosting Vick’s birthday party. Phillips, who was admitted to a hospital but is in good condition, has declined to comment on the incident.
Witnesses have not said much, but varying stories involving a birthday cake food fight have begun to surface:
“[T]he story goes that Quanis threatened to smash birthday cake in Vick’s face, or that he actually smashed the cake in Vick’s face.
Another version is that someone smashed cake in Quanis’ face — or threatened to smash it in his face.
Anyway, the confrontation moved outside — where I’m told there were several still cameras and video cameras.
Cooler heads did NOT prevail, and ‘Q’ was shot in the shopping center parking lot.” [Daily Press]
We should remind you that the terms of Vick’s release indicate that he is not to be associating with any of the co-defendants in his case, which includes Quanis. Police are still investigating the incident. It should be interesting to see how this one turns out.
Here is a look at the news report.
