The Stat Line of the Night – 6/30/10 – Vladimir Guerrero
The Stat Line of the Night – 7/1/10 – Trevor Cahill
Oakland A’s starting pitcher Trevor Cahill has been one of the top starters in the American League this season. Wait — who? Trevor Cahill, Oakland A’s. Still not ringing a bell? No, not the guy that threw the no-hitter and cussed out A-Rod earlier this year. That was Dallas Braden. I’m talking about Trevor Cahill.
Cahill was at it again last night against the lowly Orioles in Baltimore. The Orioles aren’t offering much resistance against anyone this year and Cahill mowed them down. Cahill cruised through his 7 innings of work, allowing just 4 hits and one run. The A’s scored 3 runs in the top of the 2nd and that’s all he needed to earn his 8th victory of the season.
A’s manager Bob Geren is making his pitch to Yanks skipper Joe Girardi to get Cahill on the AL All-Star Team. He just earned his seventh straight win, and he is 7-0 with a 2.12 ERA over his past nine starts. Sounds like an All-Star to me. Trevor Cahill has The Stat Line of the Night for 7/1/10.
