Kobayashi Crashes Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, Gets Arrested (Video)
Takeru Kobayashi may not have entered into this year’s annual fourth of July hot dog eating contest at New York’s Coney Island, but that didn’t stop the six time champion from stealing the show. Following Joey Chestnut’s fourth consecutive championship performance, which saw him chomp down 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes, Kobayashi attempted to crash the victory party on stage, but his plans were thwarted by police, who handcuffed the man they call “The Tsunami” and took him into custody.
Kobayashi did not enter into this year’s competition because he refused to sign a contract with Major League Eating so that he would be free to compete in competitions sanctioned by other groups. He has since pleaded not guilty to charges of obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Here is a look at what took place following Chestnut’s victory.
