The Stat Line of the Night – 9/1/10 – Tim Lincecum
The Stat Line of the Night – 9/2/10- CC Sabathia
I think it’s safe to say that the New York Yankees don’t miss the old Yankee Stadium. They have the best home record in the American League and have won 16 straight in “new” Yankee Stadium. It helps when you have a big gun like CC Sabathia on the mound. Those wins just seem to pile up.
Sabathia dominated the A’s last night. He allowed just one hit over 8 innings, struck out 5 and needed just 95 pitches to notch his league-leading 19th victory of the season. He also eclipsed 200 innings pitched for the fourth straight season. He’s a lock to get to 20 wins this season — something he has yet to do over his brilliant career. He’s had 19 twice before.
Sabathia getting to 20 wins is the icing on the cake. He’s already won a World Series and a Cy Young and was the ALCS MVP last year on the Yankees run to the title. His win last night increased the Yanks’ winning streak to 6 and kept their lead over the Rays at 1.5 games. He has The Stat Line of the Night for 9/2/10.
