2010 Fantasy Football: Monday NFL Rewind (Week 1)
It was an exciting week one for NFL fans everywhere. The defending AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts were derailed by the Houston Texans. Tom Brady appeared to be back to his 2007 form. Chis Johnson showed us all that he is no one-year wonder. And the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins capped things off on Sunday night with what may very well be one of the strangest games (and endings) you will see all year. Yes, football season is back and we couldn’t be any happier.
Here is a look at what happened during week one in this edition of the TPS Monday NFL Fantasy Rewind.
Minnesota 9 at New Orleans 14 – The Saints showed that they will be back for more in 2010, but where were all the big fantasy numbers?
Cleveland 14 at Tampa Bay 17 – A preseason sleeper, receiver Mike Williams showed that he may be able to live up to all the hype with a touchdown.
Miami 15 at Buffalo 10 – In need of some money? Bet against the Bills all season long! Oh, and did that Spiller guy even play?
Cincinnati 24 at New England 38 – NFL Beware! Brady’s back! And Welker didn’t look bad for a guy coming off major knee surgery.
Indianapolis 24 at Houston 34 – Manning may have passed for 433 yards and 3 touchdowns, but that was overshadowed by Arian Foster’s 231 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.
Denver 17 at Jacksonville 24 – If you were in the unfortunate situation where you had to start Mercedes Lewis at tight end, congratulations!
Atlanta 9 at Pittsburgh 15 (OT) – After a disappointing 70 yards and no TDs during regulation, Mendenhall gave owners something to cheer about with a 50-yard touchdown run in overtime.
Oakland 13 at Tennessee 38 – Chris Johnson is back, and so to is that terrible Oakland defense.
Carolina 18 at New York Giants 31 – What is the best way to make up for three interceptions Eli? Throw three touchdowns!
Detroit 14 at Chicago 19 – Did Calvin Johnson make that catch? I don’t think we will ever really know.
Arizona 17 at St. Louis 13 – Just when it seemed as though Larry Fitzgerald’s days as a top fantasy wideout were in jeopardy, he catches a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay 27 at Philadelphia 20 – Kevin Kolb gets concussed. Ryan Grant hurts his ankle. Michael Vick looked like pre-imprisonment Michael Vick. Could this game provide fantasy owners with anymore headaches?
San Francisco 6 at Seattle 31 – Perhaps Alex Smith is not the man in San Fran.
Dallas 7 at Washington 13 – Nobody should appreciate the play-calling of Wade Phillips more than owners of the Redskins defense. How about kneeling next time Wade?
