The Stat Line of the Night – 9/29/10 – Tim Lincecum
It didn’t start well for Tim Lincecum and the Giants on Wednesday. Playing the Diamondbacks in San Francisco, Stephen Drew led off the game with a homer. But Tim Lincecum wasn’t rattled and he went on to lead the Giants to victory and reduce their magic number to three.
Lincecum struck out 11 over seven innings even though he was pitching while sick. It was the 26th time in his career, and seventh time this year, that he’s reached double digits for punch-outs. But more importantly, Lincecum did not allow another run after Drew’s 1st inning blast. He allowed only 6 hits in total, then allowed his bullpen to finish it off for him. Brian Wilson notched his 47th save and the Giants won 3-1. Lincecum picked up win number 16 on the season and the Giants recorded their 90th win.
After a rough stretch that lasted through August, Lincecum has been dominant in September. He has made six starts this month and gone 5-1 in them. We should be seeing him rocking in October too. The Giants look like they are on their way to the playoffs, and Tim Lincecum has The Stat Line of the Night for 9/29/10.
