Columbus Crew Goaltender Scores A Stoppage Time Goal (Video)
Being a sports fan in the city of Toronto can be tough these days. The Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967, the Raptors suffered the loss of their franchise player over the summer and appear destined to finish this season at the bottom of the NBA standings, the Blue Jays have been dealt the unfortunate circumstances of sharing a division with the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays, and Toronto FC….
Well this pretty much sums up their MLS existence.
Things started off well for Toronto FC in 2010, but they have since fallen apart to the point where goalies are scoring game-winning goals against them in stoppage time, which was exactly what Columbus Crew keeper William Hesmer did on Saturday. Perhaps the only thing more embarrassing than this is enduring a fourth straight season without a playoff appearance. However, in their defense, it appears as though by missing the playoffs they are simply adapting to the norm for Toronto-based sports teams.
